Timeless (S2E09/10) -- 2 Hour Season Finale -- "The General/Chinatown" -- 5/13/18

"TIMELESS"

"THE GENERAL / CHINATOWN" ORIGINAL

05/13/2018 (09:00PM - 11:00PM) (Sunday) :

"The General"

When the Mothership jumps to South Carolina in 1863, the Time Team partners up with a courageous Union spy and military leader, Harriet Tubman - AKA "The General" - to thwart Rittenhouse's plan to alter the outcome of the Civil War. Back in the present, Rittenhouse hits the team where it hurts the most.

"Chinatown"

SEASON FINALE - When Jiya (Claudia Doumit) makes a daring escape from Rittenhouse that strands her in San Francisco's Chinatown in 1888 with no way home, the fractured Time Team goes back to save her in this emotional and action-packed finale that leaves the team questioning everything.

No decision on this show's future yet. NBC is scheduled to announce their 2018-19 schedule tomorrow.

What a cliffhanger! Was expecting either Rufus or Rittenhouse to step out of the other lifeboat.

Just finished it.

Really playing with fire by not telling a complete story this season.

Wondering if there isn't a deal in place for the show to jump to SyFy or somewhere.
They could have just ended it but instead tacked this short teaser on the end.
The ending also implies an upping the sci-fi element that doesn't jive with the normal drama driven nature of big three networks.
True, ABC has SHIELD, but it sticks out like a sore thumb on network tv.

Looking back at the season... Why was it so important to Rittenhouse to bring Nicholas to 2018? I'm also curious why he traveled to 1888 in the finale. Was that his first trip to the past? That would be ironic considering it was his last. I wonder why Lucy's mom chose to go on that trip as well.

That was a crazy set of two hours! I never really like Jessica, and this just drove home something was rotten in the state of the time team bunker.

I’m supportive of the new Flynn and Lucy relationship to an extent. I just don’t want it to get romantic.

That final cliffhanger was off the hook and so out of left field. When the new machine popped up I was expecting Rufus to step out.

I wondered that as well. I guess he was able to give to chart a true vision for Rittenhouse and plan what points in history they needed to effect? When Wyatt had a close call with him earlier in the season I was expecting more of a encounter and dialogue between the two.

Can someone post the cliffhanger in spoiler tags? I miss it.

Major spoilers so click at your own risk:
Spoiler:
Rufus was killed in the past, but the team was able to return home with a rescued Jiya. After hanging around the bunker for a while (hours/days?), a new upgraded Life Boat appeared next to the one already docked. The door opened and the group was face to face with another Wyatt and Lucy urging the team to come with them to save Rufus.

Looks like the ratings were up a bit for the finale, but not much:

Holy crap that was amazing!! And that ending. Wow.

They are really gambling with that ending.

That was both an emotional and exciting 2 hours. More people need to watch this show. Kripke and Shawn Ryan really created a fun time travel show with good characters.

Crossing my fingers. I don't care, just bring it back for another 10 episodes even if we have to wait until 2019.

Since an alternate version of Wyatt and Lucy are now in the mix, I'm assuming they're going to gamble and maybe try to go back to 1888 again? Not that they haven't done so already, but they are really creating a confusing time paradox.

re: Timeless (S2E09/10) -- 2 Hour Season Finale -- "The General/Chinatown" -- 5/13/18

Spoiler:

While I kind of expected that Rufus would either die or manage to avert the vision of his death, I was not expecting that both Lucy's mother and great grandfather would die like that.

I will say that I've never been much of a fan of the whole - time traveller gets rescued because his future self goes back in time to rescue him. But I'm willing to look past it

It didn't fell like a cliffhanger to me. More like the post credit scene of a Marvel movie. Or the end of the first Back To The Future movie.

That was a fun finale! Loved the ending. I feel like this show has no chance to get renewed, but I really hope I'm wrong.

What we’ve heard about remaining shows whose fates are still undecided:

#Timeless — NBC says they’re waiting to digest the ratings before making a decision. We know they’re negotiating with Sony over ownership/licensing fees.

Edit: Not sure why my link to the tweet by ScreenSpy isn't showing up.

I know Sony fights pretty hard to keep their shows on the air. Hopefully things work out here.

They shot season 2 in California and got $10M in tax breaks.

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/time...it-1202482741/

Over 450+ people work on this show including cast and crew. That would be a huge shame for all of them to lose their jobs.

ABC is moving the next season of "Agents of Shield" to the summer. Maybe NBC should do the same with this show. Or air it during the "family hour" so more kids can watch.

Watched this last night. I was able to control myself and not read that big spoiler , so that was a great surprise at the end!

re: Timeless (S2E09/10) -- 2 Hour Season Finale -- "The General/Chinatown" -- 5/13/18

I saw the spoiler but still a fantastic finale. What really bugged me was my DVR got the last 10 minutes of the game show so it cut off the last 10 minutes of Timeless. I then had to sit through the entire 2 hours with commercials On Demand to see the ending with the cliffhanger.
