The SYFY network should pick it up.

They had a change and they blow it again with cliffhangers. STOP IT!!!! Hope a movie gets made.

Agreed. I finally really started to love this show and they pulled the plug on a cliffhanger. I now appreciate what they did with Chuck. Since they were always unsure about renewal they always left it as a semi-cliffhanger but with closure if it didn't get renewed.

Yeah, I agree. I'm disappointed we won't get a third season, but this seemed like a 1980s movie-style cliffhanger to me—like Doc Brown coming back from the future at the end of Back to the Future. Tell a complete story but also get your imagination going. Hopefully we get that movie!

The value to Sony of a canceled show is zero. The value to Sony of selling the show to Syfy is greater than zero. In a rational world Sony would sell to Syfy in a heartbeat, but rationality often disappears when humans are involved. For example, get your production costs paid + some profit, and maybe some up-front cash, in return for giving up streaming rights.

I was angry about that. They canceled The Expanse for the same reason. I think the issue for Syfy is that they only got first-run broadcast revenue but none of the streaming revenue.

The Expanse was rumored to be about $50m/season (actual budgets being a closely held secret). If the rumor is in the ballpark then Syfy has the revenue to support a budget like that, assuming Timeless could deliver the ratings, even without the bonus of streaming revenue.

Wife and I just started watching again with Season 2 Ep 1 - this was one of our “save for summer” series. And wow, we still have to watch Expanse seasons 2 and 3. Hope somebody picks up Timeless again.

Shawn Ryan confirmed today that Timeless is officially dead as a series. Sony found no takers. The cast contracts have all expired and they are free to take other jobs.
and a 2-hour wrap up movie is not looking good either

I had a feeling...deleted from my tivo this weekend because I still had all but the first 2 eps to catch up on. I spent the time I would have on Timeless bingeing The Gifted and have no regrets.

well, that sucks.
In my opinion, I think "12 Monkeys" (SyFy) does a better job with time travel stories than "Timeless".

I went from cautiously optimist a few weeks ago to beyond bummed.
How much time was wasted shopping for a home while NBC sat on this?!

They had another change NOT to do a cliffhanger. However with how it ended you know they find a way to fix everything.

Far too much. But In still surprised that SyFy and all the steaming options passed on picked by it up. There is so much junk far worse than Timeless pushed out everyday.

Ryan also said the show costs around $4M an episode to make. That’s very expensive and probably due to the special effects and period sets and costumes. And for the live ratings it was getting, it was probably a money loser.
See a show like Lucifer was probably much cheaper and that’s why Netflix was able to take it on. Lucifer is essentially an LA based crime procedural.

From what I've read, Lucifer was about $54m/season for Seasons 1 and 2 -- $4m/episode for Season 1, about $3m/episode for Season 2. But I'm not sure how Vancouver tax breaks factor into that.
Timeless Season 2 and Lucifer Season 3 were filmed in Cali.
It seems every show that leaves Canada gets canned

I put out a Tweet to show runners suggesting they bark up the Big Finish tree. Got a little traction, but I was hoping for more.

We just finished binging this season last night. I hope there's some kind of decent wrap-up.

Timeless Lives! NBC Revives Cancelled Drama With 'Two-Part Finale'
Timeless has miraculously cheated death for a second time. One month after cancelling the cult drama (again), NBC announced Tuesday that it has ordered a two-part finale that will give “closure to the globetrotting series.” The Peacock net did not specify an air date beyond confirming that the two-hour event will premiere during the holidays.
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of Timeless, this is the next best thing,” said executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke in a joint statement. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
Per NBC, the entire cast — including Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit — are on board for the finale.
NBC floated the possibility of producing a wrap-up movie in late June when it announced that Timeless would not be returning for a third season, but the odds of the project snagging a green light — given the logistics and financial hurdles — were considered remote. Earlier this month, Ryan seemed to hammer the last nail in the series’ coffin when he tweeted that efforts to find Timeless a new home “have sadly failed,” adding that a finale movie was similarly looking unlikely, “While Sony will continue to look at any and all options, actor deals have expired and it appears there will be no Season 3 or beyond.”
Timeless of course made headlines last year when it was axed after its freshman season — and then uncancelled just three days later by NBC. Following a year-long hiatus, the 10-episode second season premiered last March in its new Sundays-at-10 time slot to less-than-stellar ratings.
The Season 2 finale, which aired May 13, ended with a doozy of a cliffhanger: Future versions of Lucy and Wyatt arrived in the present-day bunker with a potential plan to save their dead teammate Rufus.
“We’re excited to tell one final chapter to this incredible story,” said Lisa Katz, Co-President, Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “A huge thank you to all – our cast, crew, producers and partners at Sony – who have worked so very hard, and to the fans who kept us on our toes and made sure we did our very best week after week.”
