Vida (STARZ) -- premieres 5/6/18

"Vida" is a half-hour drama series focusing on two Mexican-American sisters, Emma (Mishel Prada) and Lyn (Melissa Barrera), from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn't be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and surprising truth about their mother's identity.
Tanya Saracho ("How to Get Away With Murder," "Looking," "Girls") serves as showrunner and executive producer. Alonso Ruizpalacios (Gueros, Verde) directs the series premiere episode. Big Beach TV's Robin Schwartz, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub executive produce with Stephanie Langhoff ("Togetherness," "The Bronze," "The Skeleton Twins"). Emmy(R) award-winning Chrisann Verges ("Girlboss," "Getting On," "Warm Springs") produces.

I watched a re-airing last night and enjoyed the show. Another 30 minute show that was effortless to watch. Also, it helps that I could stare at a static image of Mishel Prada for 30 minutes as I think she looks crazy hot on the show.

I binged the second season. They really upped the ante on sex and nudity this season.
I think it's an enjoyable show.

What would familia be without a little drama? The final season of Vida premieres April 26 on STARZ.
“Vida” returns with Hernandez sisters, Emma and Lyn, riding on the heels of success. The bar is booming, and their love lives are actually flourishing — until they discover a long-buried family secret that ruins their hard-won peace. They find themselves face-to-face with old ghosts and new enemies, all while deciding if they can continue together as a family or if they should each move on alone — for good this time.

30 minutes show with two hot chicks in the lead who are in a lot of sex scenes... Not a hard commitment to invest in.

I finally started this up and am on the 4th episode of season 1. Man, Lyn is smoking hot. It's definitely funny as hell but it's also more serious, than say, Gentefied, which I also loved. Vida has a more dramatic angle sprinkled in with humor.

Just knocked out season 2. Now I know who Lyn reminds me of. She looks like a Mexican (and young) Emily Blunt. At least in the face. Gonna knock out season 3 this afternoon.

It was a great show. It was definitely set up for a 4th season, but they compressed some episodes that had longer running times (season 3 is only 6 episodes again). As usual, with tv shows, it's either a changing of the guard or shift in the business model that screws things up.
A feature film finale like they did for East Los High (via HULU) would be awesome, but this was produced by Lionsgate TV.

What a great fucking show. I’m halfway through S1 in one sitting. I’m obviously in love with Melissa Barrera now bc of In The Heights, but this seems to be her first main gig to mainstream audiences and ITH first pic. She has got to jettison from here. Got to. Anthony Ramos too, but Melissa is smoking hot, can act, dance and sing. She can do it all. I would love to see her in more stuff from now on. But, this is a great show. Witty, funny, sad, dark, got it all thus far and seeing 100% on RT for 3 seasons is pretty fucking great, also, beautiful to watch. The creator mentioned the cinematographer they got who is Hispanic and just knows how to light and sets up these great cinema like shots, which she does. The sisters in ep 1 sitting on the couch at the end watching an old tape of their mom was an incredible shot.

And the woman you plays Eddy is fucking brilliant as well. She has me laughing one minute, then crying the next.

I blasted through S1 in 2 nights. Not that hard since only 6 eps, but I watched the extras at the end of each ep to get insight from creator and another extra on the look, feel, characters. Absolutely loving the show and can’t wait to start S2 tomorrow. Really fucking good and seems so authentic. The raw emotional roller coaster 6 eps have taken me on has been really surprising.
