If it's like the Space channel in Canada, you can only watch episodes online for a certain time before they "expire". Episodes 1-4 are gone, and 5 (May 9th episode) expires in 3 days. I had missed a couple and had to use, hmmm... other means.

The blu-ray comes out July 17th. So you guys won’t have to wait too long to see the entire season, legally that it.

So what happened at the end of the last episode? They hit the ring and time stops? Or were we not supposed to know what happened yet?

I'm sure that's basically it given what the Proto-Miller has been trying to say. I expect the next episode will be all about the stoppage of time for those in the ring and the other ships in the area observing it all.

So it runs out time doesn't completely stop. But everything does sure turn into something resembling VGER with Miller taking over the role of Ilia.

Anybody know why the season finale is two 45-minute episodes? Is this commercial-free or are we just getting 90 minutes instead of the usual 2 hours?

Aren't most TV episodes on commercial television (like SyFy) around 40 minutes each? 90 minutes of run time for a double episode finale seems normal to me.

They're about 44 minutes if there are no commercials, hence my question about whether this is commercial-free or not. If there are commercials then we're getting shorted half an hour.

Not sure what you read, or what you are specifically referring to, but I'm guessing that two different sources described the same finale in two different ways. The 2 hour finale will be about 45 minutes of run time without commercials. Which is the norm for commercial broadcasts. Especially since SyFy seems to stick tot he 60 minute format rather than occasionally letting shows run long like AMC and FX.

He is talking about guide data. Both eps on my DirecTV are showing up as 45 mins each. Usually they show up as an hour. This leads me to believe that they are commercial free.

I’m looking at my recording setup now and seeing the same thing. Never seen commercial free on SyFy before, but if true, I applaud their doing it that way.

Re: The Expanse (SyFy) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 4/11/18

I will have to recover the shows to check but I could have sworn there were commercial breaks...maybe very limited commercial breaks and some Syfy promo spots but I watched the entire season finale last night and it did not feel uninterrupted to me.

Having said that...oooh, I am jelly of those that pay for Prime and will get to see the new season as it airs (I just get free shipping by being tethered to my brother's Prime account). I will probably wait until I can buy the entire next season in HD during a digital sale.

Amazon was very smart to pick this up as they get a fantastic show and unlike their other originals or their plans for more Lord Of The Rings they did not have to drop an insane amount of money to develop the show.

Yes, there were commercials, but seems like just one big block in the middle of the episode.

That was a great, satisfying finale! The wait for season 4 is going to be excruciating.

Glad they didn't kill off Drummer - she's fucking GOAT!

I was rooting for Ashford, I always found Drummer annoying. The fact that I can't understand shit when she speaks doesn't help.

And since I just started book 3, does it end where this S3 ends? If so, what's season 4 about? I know there are other books but do they involve the same main characters?

Ashford's motivation at the end didn't make sense for the likable guy they set him up as - doing what Holden asked would've been so much easier to do. And if that didn't work, then they could've tried his idea.

As I suspected, there were commercials but I appreciated them keeping them limited to big blocks. Plus there were fewer of them than usual. The advertisers themselves can't be too happy about that.

Awesome finale. Would have worked as the series finale if need be, but I'm thrilled we get to see what these people do with the new, real expanse, they have been given.

So what happened to Holden as they were leaving through the ring? As they went into real time his face went blank, like he was possessed. Maybe proto Miller is in his mind now (if he wasn't before)?

I took it as something to do with whoever it was that "Miller" said was responsible for the disappearance/death of the ones who created the proto-molecule.

Re: The Expanse (SyFy) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 4/11/18

http://www.darkhorizons.com/how-the-...ver-at-amazon/
As we know, Syfy’s “The Expanse” series has found a new home at Amazon Prime for its fourth season. The third season finale sees a dramatic change-up to the universe of the series – opening up the scale of the series to something even more epic as it moves out into the galaxy.

Speaking about the new season and home at Comic-Con this weekend, showrunner Naren Shankar tells Indiewire that both the move to a new phase in the source material, and a shift from a cable network to a well-funded streaming service, will alter the series:

“We’re in the second big movement in the books … a new chapter in humanity. We’re no longer constrained in the solar system. It’s how humanity deals with this vast new frontier. It’s going to be more awesome.

We no longer have the language restrictions. [We can] curse like a sailor. We don’t have the nudity restrictions… and the 4K and HDR will look amazing on Amazon. We’re no longer constrained by a 43-minute box. We can put some air into it, let things breathe a little bit more. So we’re excited to be on Amazon Prime.”

The fourth season of “The Expanse” is expected sometime in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video

Some news about when season 3 and 4 are coming to Amazon:

https://deadline.com/2019/01/amazon-...-4-1202538962/

After being canceled by Syfy and then saved by Amazon Prime Video, The Expanse will debut its third season on the streaming service Feb. 8 with the fourth season exclusively premiering in 2019.

Season 3 will be available to Prime members in over 200 countries and territories starting Feb. 8. For those of you who can’t wait, don’t worry! Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available on Amazon Prime Video to tide you over until February. For international audiences, you’ll be able to access seasons 1-3 on February 8.

Re: The Expanse (SyFy) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 4/11/18

Finally finished season 3 through Amazon Prime. By the time I was able to watch via DVR we had space issues and I lost episodes so had to wait.

i really hadn’t seen but a few episodes, so had a lot to watch. Definitely has a little different pace when you watch them rather quickly. Maybe it’s becaise I watched them at once, but the back half definitely had a different tone. There were a lot of characters shifting in and out, and the objectives totally changed. It almost was like those episodes should have been their own season.

i liked getting Miller back, because I thought at first it was him to some degree. I guess it’s more the blue alien trying to find out what happened to the creators. I suppose it makes sense he’s the investigator/probe then.

I really came to like Ashford as the season went out, but not so much in the last episode. Glad that jr guy is gone!

i haven’t read the books, but I’ll be very curious to see where season 4 goes. I assume they at least have to start going through gates and looking for the bigger mystery. It’s like Mass Effect meets Stargate!
