Season 3 of SYFY's THE EXPANSE will premiere Wednesday, April 11 at 9/8c. Picking up immediately following the emotional and suspenseful second season finale, the 13-episode third season finds Earth, Mars and The Belt at war, with each competing entity vying for control. Now, more than ever, the mission to unlock the secret of the protomolecule reaches an all-time high and every decision made could jeopardize the survival of the solar system. THE EXPANSE unfolds across a colonized galaxy 200 years in the future, when two strangers become unwittingly swept up in a vast conspiracy. Based on the New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as "The Expanse," written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey), the series stars Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Frankie Adams. This season also introduces Elizabeth Mitchell and David Strathairn as recurring guest stars.

Shit... I can barely remember what happened in the first two seasons.
I think that should say "solar system..."

I think The Expanse sort of fails at being memorable. I literally cannot remember the name of a single character.
There's the Martian soldier chick, the PI guy, the black guy from the belt who's either a gangster or businessman, the guy who used to be on Spartacus, the older woman who is Earth's president or some other kind of politician.
It's interesting to watch, but nothing really sticks in my brain.

I thought the premier was good. Although as with many key episodes in this series, it is definitely used to setup events and people as the chess board gets rearranged.
For some reason I thought Naomi was off the Roci (do we have to stop calling her that? 🙁, but I guess she’s still there. If only they couldn’t drop her off sonner!
Belter chick (this is where I agree with Josh) is none too happy with Ben Johnson. I can see his plan coming apart very quickly. Maybe Naomi can go join Ben. She clearly has more allegiance there than with the Roci crew.
I really enjoyed Holden puttting some pieces together and coming up with a different plan of action. Way to step up.
I haven’t read the books, but the security spy working for the Senator (ambassador?) is wicked cool. After his brush with death, I hope he made it off the ship.
Surprised we didn’t get more on the research vessel plot. I hope that comes up next episode!
I partially agree. I’d say I have a good 8-10 names down, but not the rest. I think we can all agree to just call the Senator back on earth a traitor, along with other colorful adjectives.

That being said I enjoyed the premiere.

Cancelled
Seems like this show was too difficult a watch for most here. Not exactly drawing any buzz or talk. Dead thread after 5 episodes.

Bummer, but not surprising. I enjoy it, but it's not a show for the masses.
Hope the season ends with some resolution.

Very disappointing...easily one of the best shows on TV right now. Hope it finds a home

Another outstanding show I assume is getting canceled for the same reason Dark Matter did: Syfy doesn't own it. Since shopping shows rarely seems to result in a successful change of network, my question is what is Syfy willing to pay for an ownership stake. My suspicion is that the producers of Dark Matter couldn't make a deal because Syfy offered nothing or next to nothing for a stake in the show. Alcon was probably offered the same deal.

What the heck? I assumed if anything was safe it would be this. I definitely watch, I'm just behind a few episodes as I'm still playing DVR catch-up after vacation.

as much as I enjoyed this in the past, it quickly fell off my radar after seeing the thread and I haven't seen a single episode this season yet. I never set it up to record as I watched it on netflix or something before. Is this season any good?

Unfortunately even though we live in a binge watch, streaming and DVR culture, many shows still can’t survive without live viewers.
If you read the story I posted, due to this show being an independent production, the financial arrangement only benefits SyFy on the linear TV airings.

This fucking sucks. This is the best sci-fi show I've seen in years and I assume it will end without resolution.

That's a real bummer. I really got into the show on Netflix. Since I live overseas I have the international version of Netflix, and this shows up as one of those Netflix exclusive branded shows. I never knew it was on SyFy. Either way ill finish it up when S3 is on Netflix.

Netflix is throwing money at what seems like an unlimited number of shows - why not add Expanse to their list?

Some exec at syfy must have finally seen the "acting" of Frankie Adams and had no choice but put an end to it.
