In the first episode?

Spoiler:
I'm pretty sure that was just her reaction to giving in to Deep's demand.

Wasn't she like crazy drunk at the time?

It also gave her amazing Wolverine-like tracking powers to find Hughie, so maybe you're onto something though.

Finished the show up a few days ago and loved it. Great ending and great setup for Season 2.

I also noticed the fly - I haven't read any spoilers, I just figured it was an Ant-Man analogue who'd come in later.

I laughed out loud when Black Noir started playing the piano.

Bring on Season 2!

That is exactly what I thought as well... actually thought it was somewhat telegraphed as a plot line as well.

Before the Supe terrorists starting appearing, wouldn't anyone think it was weird that all of the 'naturally' created Supes all were in the USA ? no European , Asian or African natural Supes

Plus they were all signed to Vought (unless they were discarded). Like nobody thought it was suspicious that every single superhero contracted with them? And nobody that signed NDAs went off the grid (like the father) and revealed the secret? Even if it was just a rumor being supressed you'd figure it wouldn't come as a surprise to the CIA.

They clearly show Vaught using their Supers to eliminate their detractors. Seems likely they were doing this large scale, especially with someone like Homelander on their side. The government was aware, but powerless to do anything about it.

Maybe I’m crazy, but was Stillwell supposed to be Homelander’s birth mother? She kept calling him “my boy,” even while having sex, and he was so jealous of her baby, like he resented that she kept that baby but gave him up to be raised in a lab.

I think Homelander had kind of an Oedipal Complex. I don't think Stillwell was his actual mother, but since he grew up without one and since she was an authority figure for him he expressed those kinds of feelings toward her. Stillwell calling him "my boy" while having sex was role-play. She did it because she knew it was what he wanted.

Re: The Boys (Amazon) C: Rogen, Goldberg, Kripke -- based on the comic -- S: Karl Urban -- premieres 7/26

I just finished the last couple episodes up last night. I really love this show. It took me a couple episodes to get into it but once the series got rolling it really turned great fast. It’s without a doubt my favorite “streaming show” that I’ve watched so far.

I also noticed the fly buzzing around and figure it’s some sort of Ant-man type character being set up (I haven’t read any spoilers so that’s just a guess).

Also, without reading any spoilers, I’m waiting for Lamplighter to show back up after finding out what he did to the CIA lady’s family.

I'm surprised Dan Trachtenberg isn't in more demand, he only has like three notable director credits (10 Cloverfield Lane, Playtest (Black Mirror) and The Boys pilot) but they've all been rock solid.

Wrapped up last night and it was excellent the reveal about Homelander's family was great and had to be a kick to the balls for Billy. This is definitely renewed for at least S2, correct?

Just finished this, it was amazing! One of the best shows in recent memory.
Homelander was pretty damn scary. The actor that played him nailed it
Actually most of the cast was pretty great.

I am really tempted on reading the graphic novel. But I'm afraid I would spoil the enjoyment of Season 2

Yeah, just wait for season 2. The comic is very, very different but will still spoil (presumably) some major plot points.

It's also gross to the point of parody, which is why the adaptation strays so far from the source material. Like you couldn't film some of the messed up stuff that happens (or I'd be really surprised if they did).

I believe so, which makes Baker's decision even more repugnant (even if it's not true, it's what he intended). There's no reason for Homelander to have any attachment.

I have watched the first several episodes and wasn't that impressed so I went to the source material to see what that was like. Read the first 14 issues and holy cow, it is VERY VERY different.

I plan to start back over and try the show again but I can't say it was must-watch TV like so many other shows. But then again, the comic isn't a must read in my opinion. I don't offend easily (if almost at all). It pushes the boundaries on EVERYTHING almost to the point where it isn't interesting or funny anymore and just comes across as trying to be shocking than actually shocking. I enjoy the art in it though.

It would have been interesting if the show had tried to truly follow the comic. But then again, it would have had to be on HBO, Cinemax or possibly Pornhub.

Why would it need to be on those? Amazon can be just as uncensored as those outlets.

I agree about the differences from the comic to the show. The comic seems like it has a message, but really just wants to push the boundaries as much as it can to the detriment of telling the story. It’s like a shock-jock who is smart and has meaningful things to say, yet he buries it in dick jokes and guest strippers, losing the actual message. If I didn’t get it free on Amazon, I wouldn’t have read it.

Like a good adaptation, I think the show takes the message and fleshes it out with better focus and just enough “shock” to maintain that aspect. Netflix’s Umbrella Academy did this very well also. I was surprised at how rudimentary the source material was.

I finally finished the season last night after stalling on it for a few months. Had 3 episodes to watch and wanted to finally finish it.

Great season overall. And wow....Homelander continues to be a fucking piece of shit. Sad that he killed Madelyn in the finale. That was a pretty gruesome death. I'm guessing that Elisabeth Shue only committed to the show since her character arc was only 1 season and she was being killed off.

Loved the ending with Billy's ex being the mother of Homelander's kid. And seeing Billy in shock.

Just did a rewatch of Season 1. This show came out of nowhere for me, and I love it.

I hate comic books and superhero movies, but the premise of this sold me a few years ago.
