The Frankenstein Chronicles is a British television period crime drama series that first aired on ITV Encore on 11 November 2015. The series, designed as a re-imagining of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein, follows Inspector John Marlott (Sean Bean), a river police officer who uncovers a corpse made up of body parts from seven missing children, and sets about determining the identity of the person responsible. The series co-stars Tom Ward as then-Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel and Anna Maxwell Martin as author Mary Shelley.

Bean is really taking any job that comes.
He's also in the new Crackle show "The Oath" that comes out in a few weeks.
I heard about this show being released in the UK, but didn't realize there was a 2nd season and it came out 2 years after the 1st one.

As you know, UK season/series are funny like that. Aren't they mostly built with one-off season in mind?

This will be my next binge. Just found out about it yesterday morning when I went on Netflix and this popped out. First season came out way back in 2015 in the UK only, I think.

The trailer makes this show look terribly bleak. Not sure I'm interested (and there are no shambling Frankenstein monsters!).

Between this and Taboo you can really enjoy a nice trip to the docksides of old London. I'm intrigued after the first episode but it's such a downer I don't feel in any hurry to continue watching.

The second season coming out so long after the first i think hurt it. I wouldnt have known it existed if my DVR didnt record it for me. That said i still thought it was enjoyable like the first season, been a fan of Bean's since Sharpes first started so I'll check out anything hes in.

British shows do that sometimes. It's easy to forget that almost two years elapsed between seasons of Happy Valley, or the last season of Coupling. Hell, two years went by between seasons 4 and 5 of Cold Feet... and 13 years went by between seasons 5 and 6!
Uhhhhh... you missed the point of the show if you missed the monster.

Well, this might be the perfect show for Bean, as they can kill him off every episode, only for him to be revived for the next one, and then killed off again!

I hate it when I try to be a smart-ass and end up nailing it.
I know we have had this discussion before, but I like the British model for TV. Coming out with “series” (or seasons) when you have story tell makes for more compelling shows than pounding out 12 or 24 episodes of filler just because it is that time of year again.

However, there are lots of British shows were it's kinda obvious that the writer had one great idea, and when the show got good ratings the BBC or ITV came back begging for more... but the well was dry. The Syndicate immediately leaps to mind here: season 1 was great, season 2 was one of the worst things I've ever seen, ever, and season 3 was just OK. Same with Broadchurch. And Doctor Foster could easily fall into the same trap.
