The dialog in the latest trailer seems really stilted. But reviews have mostly been pretty strong and I'll be watching for at least the season.

That doesn't bother me as part of what makes fantasy absorbing is the gradual build up and development of things. All action right from the beginning would not fit fantasy at all.

Yeah, it's a new age, so world-building is an obvious duh. I assume the haters are going in fresh from Peter Jackson's films and think they will follow that narrative.

I saw the theater premier last night. First ep is character (and there are a lot) and world introduction as expected. Second episode picks up.
I haven't read the books so the "parts of the story to adapt misfire" is irrelevant to me. That's just somebody wanting to see something else.
I fully expect the internet to complain about every little pixel and every bit of dialog in some way.

^ The comments under the YT trailer are filled with whining from Tolkien-ites and their "canon". One more reason for me to watch it.

I didn't want to post this in an episode thread as it doesn't really have anything to do with specific episodes.
Interesting stat that was released. Only 37% of people who started watching Rings of Power actually finished it. It seems like the consensus in this forum was that the 1st season was a disappointment. I don't know how many here started it, but didn't like it enough to finish it.
That kind of stat would have led to cancellation on Netflix. But, Amazon has way too much money invested in this.

I am part of the 63% who bailed.

I'm part of the indeterminate percentage that has Amazon Prime but never felt compelled to watch any of it.

I’m part that started and finished.
It was definitely spotty, but I felt culminated in some cool things in the last two episodes. I of course say that not being a reader of the book series.

Yeah I started and finished (and for me, shockingly close to release date), but I do wonder at some point if people don't feel any pressure to finish it in a timely manner considering how far off the next season is anyway.

And how little buzz the series created once it was released.

I only finished 5 of the 8. i admit I didn't really love it and found it a little hard to follow sometimes. House of the Dragon far exceeded it from an entertainment standpoint and they were basically out the same time. I do intend to finish it hopefully.

We finished it and are ready for more. It had some rough spots but overall it was pretty fun and told an interesting story.
I know there were people that had issues with it but that 37% number is shocking. I would have expected that the complaints were a vocal minority and more people actually watched it through.

Started and never finished it. I did finish House of Dragons, even though it wasn't much better than the Rings of Power.

I started and finished the Rings of Power. I thought it started out reasonably strong and got progressively worse as the season went on, so I can totally see why many people would have given up on it.

I thought it was great. I enjoyed it even more than House of the Dragon and way more than the Hobbit trilogy.

It's rare that I don't finish a series that I start, especially one as short as Rings of Power. It was bad enough that I have no desire to even finish it.
