Young Sheldon (CBS) -- The Big Bang Theory Prequel -- Series Thread

Re: Young Sheldon (CBS) -- The Big Bang Theory Prequel -- Series Thread
The series seems to end showing old Sheldon writing his memoirs on his computer. Since what we see on Young Sheldon is Sheldon writing the story of his earlier life, he could technically be embellishing the depiction of his father in his memoirs as we see on Young Sheldon. On TBBT, Sheldon's father was always referenced in a negative light. Perhaps the real version of George Cooper is not what we see on Young Sheldon. Sheldon could be making up this version of his father if he doesn't want the whole world to know what his father was really like. That would be an easy way to explain any of the continuity errors between TBBT and Young Sheldon.

That was a perfect series finale. Already missing this show.

Well it's a comedy and if they have a dark character throughout the series it's really hard to keep it light. And I think the last episode was trying to show that Sheldon did have negative feelings for his father but now that he was thought back on it while writing his memoir, and now being a father himself, he realized that his dad was actually a pretty good guy just doing the best he could. Also that he loves him and regrets never telling him that. I thought was pretty good. I think in TBBT episodes Sheldon was so absorbed in himself he couldn't allow himself to see that older and wiser perspective.

I wonder how long the Older Sheldon scenes were supposed to take place after the Big Bang Theory. TBBT ended five years ago in 2019. In the older scenes Sheldon and Amy have at least two children, one of which is old enough to be playing in an organized hockey league. So, it would seem they advanced the timeline about further than real time for those scenes. Makes me curious when the Max spinoff happens where it will fit in on the timeline.

As it's called Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage... I'm guessing fairly soon after Sheldon leaves for CalTech.

They wisely didn't show Sheldon's kids so they can be freshly cast when the eventual spinoff actually happens.

Wow, this was definitely a great ending to the show. I do wish we had a little bit more time to wrap some things up. Especially since they brought back Old Sheldon and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler back for the last episode. I think they were dangerously close to having it become an Enterprise like finale. But I think they pulled it off and kept the focus on the characters in Young Sheldon.
The way that each character dealt with George's death was extremely well done. It fit each character very well. It was very cool seeing Georgie step it up in the family. Sheldon's response was perfect for his character. It really showed that a lot of times Sheldon is processing information in a strange and oftentimes geeky way but very few people know what he's talking about so think he's being aloof or uncaring when oftentimes it's the opposite. I can definitely relate.
This show has been so much better than it should have been. I'm going to miss it a lot more than I thought I would have. I just kind of took it for granted. Forgetting about it for several months and then just binging it all as I see it piling up on my DVR.
