Just wrapped it up and it was quite average in the grand scheme of things. I hated the dark as fuck cinematography -- literally, 80% of the entire show takes place at night or in the dark.
I still think that the first 2 seasons of Daredevil and season 1 of Luke Cage are the best out of these offerings. I know the Punisher will be great, too.

I never looked at the number of episodes until I was on #7
So, finished it in one day. I thought it was okay. Jessica is pretty damn strong. Nice to see familiar characters from the previous individual series. Wasn't a fan of the predictable ending.

Episode One is essentially Season 2 (3 - DD) Episode 1 for each show. But combined. They needed to pick up where they left off with each show. They couldn't just throw them all in there.

Only through the first 2 episodes, but I didn't mind them. Wish the action at the beginning wasn't so dark, but had no issues catching up with each of the characters. Didn't think it was boring at all.

I'll spoiler this because it'll be funnier when you see it. I loved Jessica's remark about DD's outfit:

I've watched Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. I only watched about 4 episodes of Iron Fist, because it was boring. Do I need to watch Iron Fist before The Defenders? I don't mind missing a few references, I just don't want to miss any major plot points.

Episode 3 of this series also makes a bunch of references to events from Iron Fist (that's where I left off) As I said earlier, Claire Temple had a big part in Iron Fist.

Jessica Jones is a pain in the ass. So unlikable.

Shouldn't there have been a moment of recognition somewhere between Claire and Matt at the police station? Like, oh, you're involved in this too? You're banging him? Or did I miss something?

Overall, I was disappointed. I felt there was too much talking and explaining things, not enough action or suspense. I kept wishing everyone would stop talking and just do something.
The fight scenes were mostly lacking. The bad cinematography/editing made it hard to get into the action. And often the lighting was so poor you couldn't see much.
I don't know what kind of budget they had, but the show felt low budget. Every scene was a few people confined to a small room. There were no epic scenes.
I think one of the biggest drawbacks was the enemy. The Hand is boring and dragged down all the shows. The Kingpin was really good. The Punisher was awesome. And first half of Luke Cage was fun. Even the Jessica Jones villain was decent. But all the stuff involving The Hand was a drag.

I thought the whole thing was just okay. The fight scenes were certainly better than what they had in IF.

Can't please everyone. I prefer less action. When you don't have boatloads of money to spend, the action gets boring. I think the fights are the low points of these Netflix Marvel shows. The melodrama is the highlight. I really liked when the Japanese Hand guy pointed out that they're skilled fighters, but that isn't everything ... implying that it's more about wit than fight. If Marvel has the right character, that idea could be expanded to its own show or movie.
Anyone else really want to see some crossovers with the MCU? I'm pretty sure us nerds would lose our shit if Iron Man or whatever were to show up for a bit. Or we get some Infinity Wars crossovers.
Speaking of which - does the African villain have anything to do with Black Panther? I binged and didn't pay attention 100%. But they didn't seem to reveal too much about him.

I'm heading into episode 6 now.
In episode 4 & 5:
Who is Murakami supposed to be? Not really clear on who he is and his relationship with Alexandra. Obviously he's a member of The Hand.
It was good in episode 5 that:
I was a little surprised that they brought back
and Elodie Yung is awesome. Love her fight sequences.
I think I'll have this finished up by tomorrow night.

I must be easy to please, 'cause I liked it... and I loved that it was 8 episodes and didn't drag out. (I would have been happy with 10 and a little more exposition that was crammed into eps 7 and 8... but oh well.)
Bring on Frank Castle!

Watched it, didn't really like it. Too much going on "off screen", all of a sudden the characters know all these things about each other they shouldn't.
Jessica added absolutely nothing here.

I enjoyed it well enough with my ranking below.
1) Daredevil S1
2) Jessica Jones S1
3) Defenders S1
4) Daredevil S2
5) Luke Cage S1
I was never excited about Iron Fist so after the bad reviews I didn't watch it. Don't feel like I missed anything in the Defenders either. Entitled white dude uses super chi power to avenge his murdered master(s) or something. None of the plot was really hard to follow here. Was just fun seeing the characters come together in what felt like the first of many adventures.
However, the whole Black Sky thing seemed pointless. She wasn't that much of a better fighter than the others. Except most of them had superpowers too. Not sure what getting another ninja was ever supposed to do for the Hand.

The Punisher teaser was odd. Instead of a typical Marvel post-credit scene, it was a montage/commercial with Frank narrating.

For me, the high point of the Netflix Marvel shows is Frank Castle's brutal story in Daredevil Season 2.

Ummm.....I'm assuming you never read the comic because that's exactly what it was and he was also avenging his parents. I'm glad they didn't change it for modern sensibilities. Otherwise, it wouldn't be Iron Fist. Back in the 70's no one complained that he was white. It was just cool everyone was into martial arts and it didn't matter where you came from. People today just don't get it.
