Just finished Luke Cage today. Now caught up with all the shows and ready for this.

Since Luke Cage ends on a cliffhanger of sorts with Luke being sent to prison, I would say you need to be caught up with it before taking this on.

I've got a long flight this weekend... I'm hoping to be able to download all 8 eps to my iPad and take it on the road with me. ;)

Netflix doesn't allow downloads on the Marvel shows along with a few others.

I'm still looking forward to it even though the reviews seem to say the first 4 episodes are slow. Hopefully the back half of the season is good.

Well you're reading a thread that is the spinoff show of 4 shows and 65 hours of content that was released over the last 2 years. It's kind of assumed that you have watched all of them to take this on. Jumping on to this without having seen them or all of them isn't a good idea.

I know I wouldn't have posted had I not been caught up yet.

I'll post spoiler tags for specific Defenders episodes.

Re: Marvel's The Defenders (Netflix) -- premieres 8/18/17

People should expect spoilers for any of the previous series in this thread. It's like going to the Avengers thread and being upset about spoilers to the end of Iron Man or Captain America.

Re: Marvel's The Defenders (Netflix) -- premieres 8/18/17

Regardless, there is no warning in thread title and some might want to jump in despite not watching all the rest. I've watched some and liked and wanted to just get into something new. I know they say it a lot about me, but think, sometimes before you post...

Re: Marvel's The Defenders (Netflix) -- premieres 8/18/17

how many of the Marvel shows have you seen to completion?

For example, if you had not seen Luke Cage yet, you would have been completely lost on his back story, who Misty Knight is and her relationship to Luke. Also, Claire Temple, if you know who she is, is a key character from all these shows and has a relationship with Luke in addition to Colleen Wing, who was introduced in Iron Fist. Essentially Luke Cage was the segue to Iron Fist since Claire carried over to it.

And now Iron Fist is carrying over to this.

Re: Marvel's The Defenders (Netflix) -- premieres 8/18/17

While I usually agree with people who are upset at spoilers in the TV threads, I think this one should have been a given.

I don't really understand watching this show, reading the original post, and not expect to see spoilers about the plot of any of the previous shows. That's ridiculous.

Look a spoiler is a spoiler no matter where it is. It's not hard to highlight and press the spoiler button. I think I pushed for that. It's easy...

Re: Marvel's The Defenders (Netflix) -- premieres 8/18/17

There's no reason to not think anything that happened in the previous 4 shows wouldn't be discussed here. These are all connected and it was known from the get go that the four shows were leading to this. If you went into an Avengers thread and hadn't scene Iron Man 2 and it was discussed that's your own problem. Not much different than going into a Season 5 episodes thread of Ray Donovan and asking if you can jump in but you end up seeing a spoiler after not having watched it for four seasons.

It is also not hard to not go into a thread where there may be information about the shows previous to it. Go away. Seriously. This is a discussion of a show where all the stuff that happened directly impacts why they all get together in this current show. If you came into this thread not expecting to have any discussion about stuff in previous shows you were way off base.

Iron Man 2 sucked. That's a terrible reference...

Sure. But if that's all you took from that and only come back with a lame, unfunny quip you must know we're all right.

Move along.

And that little dig in the other forum has been reported. Being a moderator, you should have seen it and taken care of it. Really should use more discretion with your role here...

http://comicbook.com/marvel/2017/08/...lming-october/

Daredevil's 3rd season reportedly begins production in October. With a probable 5-6 month shoot, looks like this will likely be released next Fall.

As for The Defenders, I probably won't blow through 8 episodes in 1 day. I'll try to do maybe 1-2 per day.

Re: Marvel's The Defenders (Netflix) -- premieres 8/18/17

I had added "The Defenders" to my list a while back since that was an option. I checked today and neither was in my list, but if I went to the individual entry for "Defenders", it indicated it was on my list, but I'd have to search for it or get it off the menu. I had to remove it from my list and then add it again, and then it showed up visually on my list.

And JJ Season 2 is currently filming, for an early 2018 release.

On the second episode now, a spoiler-ish free review will becoming when I finish episode 4 (halfway point). Heads up, episode one is pretty much re-introduction of all the players and secondary characters. Not much action.
