You got the feeling by the way the last two episodes finished the season that the writers didn't want to leave fans hanging, if the show doesn't get renewed.
Assassin chick seemed to flip-flop on becoming a vampire very quickly, after insisting she didn't want to become immortal. That whole arc with her and the vamp near the end gave me whiplash.

I also appreciate that maybe the writers/showrunner/etc. were nervous about the ratings and decided to accelerate things so we could get closure and yet they still left things open to a season 2 (tourists in Midnight Texas could lead to some fun episodes!). I thought the ratings for this show were okay for a summer vehicle, but oh well, I have no problem with one and done shows that do not leave you hanging at the end.

I don't think the assassin flip-flopped on becoming a vampire - they were clear that drinking his blood would not make her a vampire, it would heal her wounds. The wedding part did seem to come out of nowhere though.

I actually hope they don't renew it. I'd like to see it as a mini-series with a definitive ending.
That said, the finale was ok. The CGI was hokey and the low budget was more evident than in past episodes, but it was nice to have a resolution and I felt satisfied with the ending. If there is a Season 2, I will be watching. But, I'm also satisfied with what we have.

FYI, this was originally shot and filmed with the intention of airing during the 2016-17 season. It wasn't originally intended to be a summer series. So these episodes have been in the can a long time prior to airing this summer.

Overall i enjoyed it
But it started off with the group being special people living in a town with other people and law enforcement
Didn't take long for the other people and law enforcement to be nowhere to be seen !

Wonder what the hold up was. I thought it had already been renewed. Shame two of the cast members won't be regulars this season due to the length of time it took to renew.

Renewed but with different showrunners, which means NBC itself is retooling the show.
I enjoyed season one and the cast.
Shockingly enough, this is getting a Blu-ray release with digital copy.

I'm bumping this thread because the past two weeks of Midnight, Texas have been absolutely shocking. Yes, those characters were written off the show this season.
If no one has been paying attention, the show has been serviceable genre fodder with an attractive cast up until two weeks ago.
Without going into spoilers, a couple of major developments which have been brewing over season two, have culminated into some crazy plot twists. I don't think it was possible to see them coming.
I'm enjoying Midnight, Texas right now more than any other active show on broadcast.

Yeah the show has gotten pretty interesting in the last two episodes. I'm not sure I love what they're dong to Fiji's character though.

More unexpected craziness in last night's episode. At least the show is going out with a bang. I think the producers knew Midnight wasn't coming back.
NBC keeps trying genre stuff on Friday nights to poor ratings. I just don't think that audience is there anymore on Fridays.

It's been a pretty decent show which I've enjoyed, but I never expected a second season, so this isn't surprising to me.
