I binged this one over the weekend. Wow, this is hands down my favorite Netflix series. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Marty reminded me a lot of Walter White in how he gets out of seemingly impossible situations with his intellect and how he just seems to ruin other people's lives unintentionally. Another thing I love about the series is the music. It is droning, really sets up the tension.
I'm still a little unclear how

Now that I finished all four seasons of Cobra Kai in two weeks and found myself unable to look away from the screen, I decided I need a good new show to have on in the background.
Oh, boy. Ozark is not a background show!
Great stuff.

Does Ozark take a bit to get going? I’m 7 eps in right now and while it’s ok, it hasn’t blown me away yet. I’m just wondering how long the slow burn feel goes on for.

The opening scene of Marty's partner being killed by the cartel and Marty scrambling to "fix this" didn't grab you?? It was as intense as scenes get, IMO.

Quit now if it isn't grabbing you in season one 6 or 7 episodes in.
A slow burn this is not. If that is what you feel...Not for you.
One of THE best series I have seen.

What truthfully happens after ep. 1? Marty and family went to Ozarks to start laundering money there, but surprise there is already an outfit there doing same thing. He tries to buy the businesses and clean the money and of course get Del his money while trying to outwit this Ozarks clan and Ruth, who is played marvelously by Julia Garner. Probably why she won Emmy.
I’m not saying I dislike the show, but I don’t know how you can say this is not slow burn, which means to me, not a lot of action happens each episode, which it doesn’t.
What would you call it then?
And I only ask because sometimes great shows have slow starts.

I don't think I'd call Ozark a slow burn. There may not be a ton of "action" in the sense of gunfights/car chases/etc. but the plot moves along at a decent pace and a fair amount of stuff happens in most episodes, like strategic moves made by characters, and some conflicts resolved while new conflicts are introduced on a regular basis. I'd say it's actually fairly dense in terms of plot. Marty and Wendy start having to juggle more and more problems to keep themselves in business, and they are constantly repositioning themselves to adjust to the actions of the other parties.
