The first IDTV episode was good, because the concept was so unusual, and the b-stories going through the episode (Summer's existential crisis, Beth and Jerry wondering if they're better off apart) helped tie it together.

The second IDTV episode was a case of diminished returns. I don't even remember what the b-story in that episode was (Jerry was in a space hospital because of... something), and the IDTV skits weren't as good, mostly variations of the original episode.

Morty's Mindblowers was solid, not just because of all the "clips," but because of the overall story it was telling about Rick and Morty's relationship. In some ways, I feel it was closer to "Total Rickall" than the IDTV episodes, but it's getting compared to IDTV because they explicitly stated they did it "instead" of another IDTV.

I'd also probably dislike if they did a MM2 next season. I feel the show is better off constantly experimenting and trying different things.

I wasn't a big fan of interdimensional cable, but "Two Brothers" is probably one of the funniest things the show has ever done.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

I loved both Inter-Dimensional Cable episodes, but the shows within the show were uneven. Detective Baby-Legs and the dead lady cat thing were probably the dumbest things I've seen on this show, and they just kept going on and on.

This season is shaping up to be better than the 1st which was stellar. I like how they have been deconstructing all of the characters and their relationships with each other.

Not as keen on the ABC's of Beth. I actually liked the Jerry storyline and I like what the Rick/Beth storyline accomplished, I just didn't find it to be that great of "an adventure". The level of nihilism was impressive as well.

So ... is the Beth at home now a clone?

Sure seemed like it the way she was acting. Although maybe that was her finally being appreciative of what she has. I think they meant it to be ambiguous.

FINALLY a Rick/Beth episode. Not as funny as the last couple of eps, but the dynamic is actually being explored.

I thought the Beth/Rick stuff was kind of boring, but I dug the Jerry stuff.

The end song was great

I haven't watched the finale yet, but Szechuan Sauce will be back at select McDonalds on October 7th for 1 day.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

#10 on the season ranks #10 on the season for me. I know Harmon said this was not intended to be the finale, but it was bland compared to the rest of this season.

I am hearing speculation on the podcasts that it could be quite a while before the next season. I don't think it will be that long ... I think the stinger hinted at a December release. They should have 4 episodes already in various stages of development since this was intended to be a 14 episode season. Time will tell ... and we'll have to wait since there is no time travel.

I'll ask again ... anybody up for a Rick and Morty Sheep Game to celebrate the end of the third season?

Yeah most definitely a let down as compared to past finales.

Agree about the let down, although I liked Rick and Morty's interaction with the president. Felt like this should have been a middle of the season episode.

I don't know if they have exactly 4, but they seem to maybe have a few:

"We have a pretty hefty shoebox from season 3 of ideas that are ready to go. Some are fully written, in fact."

"...I mostly blame myself for doing 10 instead of 14. I’m still learning how to do the show efficiently while catering to the perfectionist in all of us. I would like to think I’ve learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now..."

Given the fact they're the darlings of the internet right now, they really shouldn't take a Venture Brothers style break in between seasons.

I'm basing my speculation on my belief that they should have a few episodes pretty close to ready and Mr. Poopy Butthole's comment about having "a big white Santa Clause beard". I would suspect it would be a split season though.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 3

So I was wrong on that^ ... but here is something somewhat related ...

A three part podcast hit the waves yesterday: “The Sauce” (Panoply.fm) is a marketing/self-fellating podcast created by McDonalds, Onion Labs, and Studio@Gizmodo that takes an “investigative journalism” look at Saucegate. The podcast precedes the forthcoming launch of Szechuan Sauce on February 26 (or now if your local McD’s jumped the gun).

When I say the podcast is self-fellating, it is an understatement. Apparently THE ENTIRE premise of all of Rick and Morty is a journey to get Szechuan Sauce, McDonalds is a kind-hearted altruistic corporation who doesn’t even know its own history (they didn’t even know that the Szechuan Sauce was a past product), isn’t smart enough to launch a marketing campaign, is too cheap to pay anybody from Rick and Morty (they won’t even name Rolland, let alone say the name of the show) and NOBODY NOBODY NOBODY NOBODY could have predicted the backlash of intentionally shorting a product.

Well, now we know what Rick & Morty would be like if they let fans write the episodes.

So what’s that. Ten years to air all those.
