In the spirit of true crime documentaries, this outrageous fish-out-of-water comedy features bright-eyed New York lawyer Josh Segal (Nicholas D'Agosto), who heads to a tiny Southern town for his first big case. Settling into his makeshift office behind a taxidermy shop and meeting his quirky team of local misfits, Josh suspects that winning his first big case will not be easy, especially when his client is always making himself look guilty. The cast also includes Jayma Mays, Sherri Shepherd, Steven Boyer and Krysta Rodriguez.

I watched both episodes this morning and I enjoyed it. I like most of the cast and I love the whole true crime mockumentary angle. I also kept remembering Lithgow on Dexter lol.

I watched the first two episodes and thought it was pretty terrible.

Anyone else catch this?

I thought this was pretty good. I was concerned that murder was a poor topic for a comedy but it was silly and didnt take it itself seriously. I will keep watching.

Lithgow was great as always. But there weren't a ton of laughs to be had. But I like the cast so I'll stick with it.

I'm loving this show.
It has just the right amount of wackiness.
Last ep had an homage to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

This show is fucking hilarious. Sheri Sheppard is great.

I have a wine syndrome.
So it's seems pretty clear that Lithgow actually did this right?

This is a much better show than Powerless. Why are they burning off episodes so fast?

My wife and I love this show. Went in not expecting anything and now we can't wait until the next episode. Too bad the next episode is the season finale.
The whole cast is great, and I love the courtroom scenes/banter the best. So much goes by so fast it's difficult to keep up.

I'll have to go back and watch these shows again. I gave up after the first episode, but it's probably because I hate Sheppard. With the good buzz, I'll give it another try.

Ratings haven't been great and the other upcoming sitcom Great News is part of the reason too.Originally Posted by Thrush

As for the finale, I figured there would some kind of twist, but I wasn't expecting that kind. Overall, it was an ok show.

Woah.
Anyone watch the finale?
The end was taken from a real event essentially and it was featured on Dateline last week.
This show turned out to be a real sleeper. Glad I watched it.

This is the dateline ep.

This guy was also a subject of a doc that is considered very good but I haven't seen it
called The Staircase.
His wife was probably killed the same as in this tv show.

I don't even like Lithgow and I enjoyed the show. I missed a few episodes, but overall thought it was very funny and would like to see it return.

I liked it quite a bit. Has a similar vibe to Parks & Recreation, but it is funnier.
#24
I really enjoyed this. Hope it gets renewed.

Different strokes - this clearly wanted to take a page from Parks and Rec's depiction of Pawnee but didn't come anywhere close in terms of laughs for me. Originally Posted by cdollaz

I liked Trial and Error enough that I'll watch it if it comes back but for every smart witty joke they had, they'd throw in 2 obvious/annoying attempts at jokes that didn't land for me - I like the cast and the format but if it doesn't get renewed I won't be upset.
