This was an odd episode. Got real Capra at the end. Was odd for some reason...

Villain maybe but they brought the doctor from the original show back at least twice.

The ratings environment is just so much different these days. This episode had about 3 million viewers, one of the higher numbers for season three. Flash is down about 15% from last season in the 18-49 demo, though last week's crossover was the highest rated episode since the S1 premiere.
There is a sizable audience that only watches the Flash and doesn't watch Supergirl, Arrow or LOT. Supergirl's ratings on the CW line up closer to Arrow's declining ratings than it does to Flash, which surprises me.

It's funny because it's true.

This show needs to very slightly uncomplicate itself
Too many earths, too many timelines, too many speedsters

It doesn't bother me, as time travel should have real consequences. All too often other shows confine the ramifications of time travel to one or two episodes, resetting everything back to normal by the end.

I think the multiple Earth plot ideas make more sense then the time travel ones. The show is just bad at time travel. The first time he ran back in time he just lived his day over. What the hell happened to the Barry that hadn't traveled through time yet??? He just disappeared. They really should have done at Back to the Future 2 thing with two Barrys being there.
Then the writers just use it for retcons. "Diggle has a son now, Snow showed no signs of power now has them....Flashpoint!!!"

Nah, he was a boring ass character. Nothing good can come from bringing him back. Kinda like Pete Ross on Smallville.

I still don't understand why Barry's time-altering doesn't mess with the timeline on the parallel Earths.

Barry didn't go to the past on the other Earths. They haven't had contact with our Earth until the present. I say Barry goes to Earth 2 and go back and kicks a dog. Fuck up their timeline like he fucked up ours.

And yet Jay was able to Earth hop, even after they sent him back through the portal.

I've never understood why people want such simple television. The most serious issue is the introduction of multiple Harrison Wells, from this season's goofball to the original Reverse Flash-impersonating-HW version seen in season one. I can imagine more casual viewers don't have a grasp on why HW's personality changes season to season.
It doesn't bother me, as time travel should have real consequences. All too often other shows confine the ramifications of time travel to one or two episodes, resetting everything back to normal by the end.

Maybe they should resurrect that plot device from the 90's Flash where he could only run for a limited time before dying. That would keep a show about speedsters from having too much fast running.
