Fox Mulder
I really, really wanted to put Spike from Buffy down. I thought more and decided against that choice as clickbait material.
Number Six from The Prisoner would also be another interesting choice.

Archie Bunker, so ignorant and at the same time so sure of his beliefs.
Frasier is another great one. Frasier and Niles always made me laugh.

One of my favorite shows ever is "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
There were lots of good characters on that show but my favorite was Willow Rosenburg. Alyson Hannigan played that part perfectly. She could play both the funny and emotional scenes very well.

John Carter - er
Possibly the best character arc I've ever seen on a TV show. He started out as a clumsy error prone medical intern and ended the series as fully experience Doctor; and he was completely believable the entire time!

Sometimes I'm embarrassed for him. Sometimes I have great sympathy for him. Sometimes I'm astonished by how big of a mean streak he has. He was all over the place, yet it never seemed like the writers were making contrivances. All of that was Hank, and Jeffery Tambor played him perfectly.

What's amazing is if you watch 'All in the Family' today, the topics they are discussing in the 70's are no different then 2016 Presidential Campaign.Originally Posted by Easy

Wesley Wyndam-Pryce from Buffy/Angel. I don't think any other TV character goes through such a drastic character transformation, and actor Alexis Denisof pulls if off so goddamn well.
Columbo is a great character too, but his character never really changes in the nearly 4 decades he appeared. Granted, that was part of the appeal of the character.

Suspended; also need updated email
I would have said Jack Bauer too but i've been rewatching 24 recently, the earlier seasons and sometimes the selfless and single minded actions of Jack really bug me when they adversely affect his personal circumstances
I would have to go with
Nasir from Robin of Sherwood

A character based on reality? Yes.
From the thread originator's first post:
"...where people can name their most favorite tv character ever ?
Any genre, any medium in tv (animated, reality, scripted etc)"
