That pretty much summarizes 9/10 episodes of Rebels... you get filler and then a great episode pulls you back in. The hype trailer made this season look great... but nope, we get filler to start it all out. Blech.

I was hoping for something to lessen the apparent plot hole of the Death Star being designed separately by the Geonosians AND Galen Erso.

Didn't Erso just design the weapon and not the entire Death Star itself?

Just watched Trials of the Darksaber, good episode, 2nd half of the season is picking up a little more steam than the first half.

Yea Darksaber was one of the best episodes dealing with Rebels crew.

Good news. Loved the Thrawn-Kallus episode. Thought Thrawn may (and may still) have noticed the moved planets on the map.

I think that's how he will know which planet is the Rebel base. He had memorized the indicated planets and knows which one is now not highlighted.

As observant as he is, I'd be surprised if he didn't immediately notice.

This isn't necessarily related to Rebels, but the new Thrawn book and the Empire's End book apparently both mention a threat from outside the galaxy. It could be that they're just setting up an origin story for Snoke, but it also mean the Yuuzhan Vong are about to be brought back into canon. I sure hope that's not the case.

Tonight's "Twin Suns" shouls be good, at least. I wouldn't be surprised to see Maul finally die for good.

When Obi Wan doesn't give up his lightsaber battle record is absurd, and they've all been like 2 seconds long too

I don't know I liked the confrontation. Once Maul told him he knew he protecting someone, Obi-Wan seemed to get super focused and pissed and just unleashed that in short order. Felt bad for Maul actually.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels (Disney XD) -- Season 3 Discussion Thread

I "get" what they were trying to do with how quickly Obi Wan dispatched Maul, but it should've been at least 5-10 seconds longer. It also wasn't exactly clear by the CGI how Maul was killed.

That very final scene tho, with Aunt Beru calling a very young Luke as he's coming in for the night. Shivers!

re: shortness of the fight... producers explain it here

Aunt Beru calling a very young Luke as he's coming in for the night.
He was too young--looked like a 5 year old. We're about 2-3 years from A New Hope. Dude should be about 16-17 years old.
Another way of looking at it: Ezra was born on the day Palpatine proclaimed himself emperor so Ezra is only 2 days older than Luke & Leia.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels (Disney XD) -- Season 3 Discussion Thread

I was a little shocked by the quickness of the fight, but I'm ok with it. I think it was good to sort of bridge the gap between Obi's prequel fighting style and his Ep 4 fighting style.
