It's not an argument, it's just contradiction.

They did that same thing on Fallon with silly string, the best part of that was when Finn Wolfhard responded to Fallon's "Can you even read?" with "Can you even host?"

Yes, I understand it's not a "historical reenactment". But you can't keep a certain time period in mind while watching a movie or show if something shows or plays that doesn't fit with the time period.

Do not play Bioshock Infinite

Since you have Netflix, most of the kids showed up on Chelsea Handler's talk show if you wanted to check it out. Even Barb shows up.

I really enjoyed it. I was 11 in 1983 and the one thing that bothered me was Mike's bike. No way any guy would be riding a bike with a banana seat, not even the dorkiest kids in school; but maybe that was a west coast thing.

I was 13 in 1983, and I had a newer bike then...but when I was 9 or 10 (so around 1980) I had a bike with a banana seat. So it's completely plausible. I grew up (and still reside in) Western Pennsylvania.

I had a banana seat bike when i was young (born in 80) but it was a hand-me-down.

That's a possibility here, since it could be Nancy's old bike.

Tangerine Dream did their own take on the theme:

I was 11 in 1983 and I definitely had a bike with a banana seat. I didn't get my first BMX bike until 2 years later.

Okay so it looks like it may have been a regional thing.

To be fair, there were story-based reasons they did it in that situation.

I was sucked into this show so much I watched all 8 episodes in one night. As much as I enjoyed it, I wish some things were clarified.

Spoiler:
- I thought it was very odd & out of character that Hopper gave up the kids location to the agency
- Hopper gets into the car who I'm assuming was with the agency at the end of the film
- Spitting out the worm at the end of the movie. Wouldn't any normal kid be scared to death & tell someone?
- The portals the monster uses to get in/out. Usually, it shows up when someone is bleedding or whenever. But when Jonathan & Nancy were in the forest, didnt the one in the tree just show up out of nowhere?

That's just to name a few.

I believe on your third point I have read theories that he is not 'normal' and only pretending to be.
The Upside Down doesn't send them back the same...

A few of your things have already been discussed in the thread.

This was discussed, and there's a few theories, from it being the only option he saw at the time, to maybe hoping 11 and the others could take care of themselves.

These may be addressed by the second season. However, my assumptions are that Hopper breaks a deal with the agency at the end to keep quiet about the real weirdness in exchange for the agency letting everyone go back to their lives. As for spitting out the worm, there's the thought that the kid is in denial, or maybe thinking he's having flashbacks or something.

Bleeding didn't cause the portals, the monster caused the portals, and the monster was drawn to blood. The portal in the forest was from the monster going back to the Upside Down after taking the wounded deer.

As for why the monster was apparently so readily able to make new portals, at least briefly, after the initial "permanent" one was made in the facility, that again may be something addressed in season 2.

I just watched the series and all I could think of was Tangerine Dream.

Just finished the season and it was very good, but not as great as I expected. I think Wynona Ryder is the weak link in the show simply because she's Wynona Ryder. A show like this benefits with unknown actors.

In saying that, the kid actors were great and really carry the show. I was 11 in 1983 and played D&D so I could totally relate to the 10 hour marathon campaigns in the basement.

I think the show could have been great if it explored the characters more maybe extending to 10 episodes. I'm probably in the minority on this one as it seems most TV watchers don't want the plot to slow don't to flesh out the characters. This was a lean and mean 8 Episodes and easy to blow through as I think this is what people want today. I wanted just alittle more from these characters.
