I never grew up watching the original (or reruns), but I am well aware of how the original LIS is a much beloved show by many avid tv watchers. The EW review feels a bit like folks remembering the original with rose colored glasses on and just being generally offended that a fan fave show from back in the day has been given a big budget reboot.

It sounds like most sites are declaring this modern day Lost In Space to be a winner with some warts that do not hugely detract from the entertainment value of the series.

The EW review read like one of those fanboyish reviews from folks that are annoyed that the new show did not go in the direction they insist it should have gone in to be a good show and not a review from a pair of objective reviewers.

A little bit of subjectivity finding its way into what should be an otherwise objective review is okay, but that was not how the EW review read to my eyes.

I missed the EW review, the ones I’ve seen actually liked it quite a bit. I think I can actually talk the wife into watching with me. Gotta convince her every once in a while to keep Netflix in the budget....

In the actual EW magazine they said it was the "must watch show of the week" and raved about it.

Well, they have to sell advertising...

They give bad reviews to lots of things so I don't know what you mean.

The iO9 review of it was not terrible. Said there was some filler but had some good stuff, including the kid who plays Will Robinson.
