The Flash (S2E20) -- "Rupture" -- 5/3/16

TUESDAY, MAY 3
THE FLASH
"Rupture" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)
DC COMICS' CHARACTER RUPTURE COMES TO CENTRAL CITY WITH ZOOM - Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) arrives back on Earth-1 intent on taking over Central City. Barry (Grant Gustin) and Wells (Tom Cavanagh) come up with a plan to stop Zoom once and for all but it's extremely dangerous. Unsure if he should take the risk, Barry reaches out to both fathers for advice. Henry (guest star John Wesley Shipps) is adamantly opposed to Barry risking his life again but Joe (Jesse L. Martin) thinks he can handle it which puts the two men at odds with each other. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is shocked when he vibes the Earth-2 villain Rupture, who happens to be his brother Dante's (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez) doppelganger. Rupture came to this Earth seeking justice for Reverb's death. Iris (Candice Patton) decides she's finally ready to open up to Barry about her feelings for him. Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode written by Kai Yu Wu & Lauren Certo (#220). Original airdate 5/3/2016.

So Henry Allen's mom was a Garrick before she became an Allen. My guess is that Henry Allen's Earth 2 doppleganger is the real Jay Garrick of Earth 2. Probably the man in the iron mask, as well.
And now we have Wally and Jesse! Maybe we'll get a finale with 5 speedsters!

Oh shit! Barry did a Dr. Manhattan all over the lab. Giant Blue penis incoming?
I think this show only has 3 sets: STAR Labs, the police station and Jitters.

I'm wondering if it is Jay Garrick and he's a de-aged great-grandfather of Earth-2 Barry. The tap code he was using really originated in WWII, so he might be the age to know it, even though it didn't get widely used until Vietnam.
Also, from the comics which may not mean anything,

I mostly got an angry street hockey player vibe off the bad guy of the week. I know it was meant to be a scythe but I just expected him to stop and yell "Car!" every few min.

Reverb's brother showing up was a good surprise by Zoom.
I would have preferred a more traditional origin story for Wally's powers.
This was a much better episode than last week.

Last weeks episode was the worse of the series for me. This episode was pretty good but I was worried about it in the beginning.
Looks like we seen the birth of Jessie Quick and Wally West as speedsters. The neck snapping was pretty brutal. I think we needed to see that because Zoom lost some of his magic after taking off his mask.

It was probably to kill two birds with one stone by giving Wally and Jessie there powers at the same time verses separate original stories. It will also make it convenient when neither is as fast as Barry because they don't have the chemical exposure.

So Barry's grandmother's maiden name was Garrick. Well if that doesn't solve the identity of the man in the mask then I don't know what what.
The "original" Flash, indeed...

I was amused by the Fringe reference, but was surprised that Cisco's takeaway from Jesse not getting it was that they must not have Fringe on Earth 2. Most people on Earth 1 probably aren't going to get a Fringe reference.
I wish she would have said "Fringe? We had it, I just didn't watch it."

yeah better than last week.
I take it that Barry was probably zapped into some kind of after world between life and death.
But, I'm ready for this Zoom arc to end.

I'm thinking Barry's molecules or whatever are moving too fast and now they'll spend an episode figuring out how to slow him down. Sort of the opposite of what they normally try to do.

I'm thinking he's the lawnmower man and now Cisco will guide him like he was to his hologram.
Seriously though. Zoom needs to stay but they need to get some bigger balls and have him start being brutal. If Arrow can do it, than this show should be able to. The neck snapping was a good start. Forget having simple kills that seem to just get shrugs. We also need some more metahumans.
How cool would it be to have an extra scene after credits on the finale with 'PAPA Flash' in his '90s suit looking at himself in the mirror

Great episode. I liked the quick 'catch Henry up to speed' scene, but he didn't seemed phased at all by Welles. Even if Barry told him off screen, I think most would (and have) been taken aback by it when meeting him.
That's what I thought. Not sure how he physically manifests though. Might potentially give insight into getting the suit into the ring though.
Yes and no. Maybe show more of an aftermath type thing. This is still basically the 'family' show of the Arrow-verse. I'm all for kick ass villains, but Zoom is pretty brutal for the younger set.
That being said, the CC Jitters scene was fucking badass.
