Game of Thrones (S6E01) -- "The Red Woman" -- 4/24/16

Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.

Written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss; directed by Jeremy Podeswa.

10 episode 6th season

HBO renewed it for a 7th season last week. Episode order is unknown, but reports say the Producers want to produce less than 10.

Looking forward to another season of hundreds of posts that don't make any God Damn sense and a million posts with spoiler tags.

This message thread should add a Warning: Spoilers to the title. Many HBO subscribers on cable/satellite systems should be able to see the US East Coast feed (SD for sure, HD for some cable subscribers and definitely satellite TV subscribers), so everyone in the country can see the show "live."

Yep thank goodness for HBO Go. Comcast only allows me to view the feeds within my timezone so I would have to wait until 9pm PST if it weren't for HBO Go.

The policy for the forum has always been that if the show has aired live somewhere, it's your own fault for coming into the thread and getting spoiled.

I just resubscribed to HBO so I can watch this tonight. (I always subscribe right before the new season and cancel after Hard Knocks ends. On a side note I used to always get HBO for $10 a month, but now it's $15. It's worth it to want GOT though.)

Actually, for Comcast in Sacramento, I have both the East and West Coast feeds in SD (Channel 550 Eastern feed, Channel 551 Western feed). If you're willing to not watch it in HD, check your HBO channel selection on your Comcast system in your area--you may have the East Coast feed available to watch it "live," which should be Channel 550.

Sling TV is giving a free week of HBO so you can watch the first episode for free but it's $15 a month after that.

I really wouldn't be surprised if HBO GO crashes tonight due to the sheer demand.

Nation Relieved Insufferable Little ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans Don’t Have Book To Lord Over Them This Season

WASHINGTON—Telling reporters they were unable to convey the full extent of their gratitude that the plot of the hit HBO series had finally surpassed the events of the novels, citizens across the country expressed immense relief Sunday that all the insufferable little Game Of Thrones fans would no longer be able to lord the books over everyone else just trying to enjoy the show. “After five unbearable seasons of constantly hearing how ‘the books handled things much differently,’ it’s just so nice to know I won’t have to deal with any of that shit this time around,” said White Plains, NY resident Cathryn Wakeman, echoing the sentiments of millions of viewers who had become exasperated by the incessant comments from “all those little shits” about how the televised version of a battle strayed from the George R.R. Martin novels. “Every time there was a slight deviation, one of those fuckers would have to chime in with how someone from the show was actually a composite of ‘two way more interesting’ characters from the book or how the producers left out a passage critical to understanding Westeros or some shit like that. Thank God those assholes just have to sit there and wait to find out what happens next like the rest of us.” Although the nation was looking forward to watching the fantasy show unbothered by annoying remarks from fans of the books, Americans said they wouldn’t put it past the little pricks to butt in with fan theories they picked up online.

Well, book readers can still talk about stuff that happens with the Greyjoys for at least part of this year.

Of course. And it showed up at the exact second it aired on the linear channel.

Better Red than dead.

FYI: They updated the Roku 3 HBO GO app to support DD+ now.

Was a disappointing episode for a season premier.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E01) -- "The Red Woman" -- 4/24/16

I guess I misinterpreted the final scene. I thought that Melisandre was possibly transferring her life over to Jon Snow thus making her appear old. Sounds like that is her true form though.

Don't they have to burn Jon Snow's body soon to keep him from turning into a wight?

I watched it on my Roku 3 on HBONow. Seemed fine to me.

As for the episode itself:

Spoiler:
Was the return of Jaime with Mycela's body CGI'ed? It seemed that way to me. It seems they could have just left the camera on Cersei's face - that would have said anything that needed saying.

I was very disappointed in how quickly Prince Doran and Areo Hotah were taken down. Doran seemed much more on top of things in the books.

Where was the Dorne prince supposed to be when he was killed? Wasn't he on the boat that went to King's Landing? How did the Sand Snakes get there?

I thought it was close to perfect. And the production values are through the roof.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E01) -- "The Red Woman" -- 4/24/16

I liked that it touched base with all of the stories from the season finale, with a few storylines set up nicely.

My wife walked into the room during the closing scene and she had quite the puzzled look on her face.

Can't wait to see what Bran and the 3-eyed Raven are up to.

Doran was one of the most patient, calculating and ruthless characters. I waited all last year for that reveal. Instead, he goes out like a bitch. I guess we'll see what they're doing with the Dorne storyline.
