I definitely remember the audience yelling stuff during that performance. I would imagine Fox wouldn't want the audience yelling anything, or if they did I'm sure they would want to control exactly what gets said.

True Rocky Horror fans would throw stuff as well.

It depends. I've been to live productions where thrown items were restricted. It IS live theater and the audience is expected to have some decorum. Plus, if it is network they can "cast" the audience.

A friend of mine was a producer on this show. I hadn't watched it yet, but apparently fans of the Gilmore Girls should have recognized all the recycled sets and some familiar props.

I overheard a funny exchange at work today.
Two girls, apparently discussing "Wild at Heart":
"Did you know Sherilynn Fenn is in that? She played the car accident victim."
Annoying guy who always eavesdrops/interjects himself into others conversations:
"Are you guys talking about Grease Live?"

Finally caught this tonight. Thought it was pretty fantastic
But it was definitely a straight-up adaptation of the movie, not the stage musical (albeit with a few changes).
Sounded like Boys II Men screwed up a line in Beauty School Dropout, which I've sung too many times at karaoke and noticed immediately #nohomo #wellslightlyhomo And I agree they were their number was the absolute worst of the lot.
Carly Rae Jetson was adorable as Frenchie.
Excellent production otherwise. We had a great time watching it.

Why did she look so pale? She almost looked albino.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I've seen the movie many times, and a few high school stage productions (which were actually not bad). The recent live TV musicals (Sound of Music, Peter Pan) were underwhelming, though, so I had low expectations here.
I mostly agree with previous posters. Julianne Hough as Sandy and Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo were the highlights. Hough was really impressive--I know she has singing experience, but she really nailed her songs.
Oh, and Carly Rae Jepsen was good, too, as Frenchie.
Well, she is Canadian.
The guys were not great. "Danny" wasn't horrible, but just kind of 'meh.' I actually thought "Alone at the Drive-In" was a high point for him. I thought Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie was pretty awful--no charisma and horrible acting.
Some things did feel rushed, like the scene with the coach trying Danny out in different sports. It was funny in the movie, but it fell flat here and shouldn't have been included.
The choreography and camera work were quite well done. The dynamic movement of the camera through the big dance numbers really helped.

Here's how it went down in the control room:

And a brief interview with that person conducted by Ken Levine:

Finally got around to watching this
Was impressed with the scene by scene recreations
The dance competion scene in particular had great choreography
overall very good even if some of the vocal talent was variable

Re: Grease: Live! (FOX) -- 1/31/16
there have been plenty of broadway/live type adaptions of Grease
I loved the fact that the sets were almost movie quality and it followed the movie scene and plot very closely
IT did still feel live
