The whole "he won't kill the big bad" while routinely shooting the red shirts in the chest with arrows nonsense. I guess we are supposed to believe none of those were fatal.
Arrow was good when he was a straight up vigilante, and the show was buffered by a reasonably upbeat cast.
I have no idea why they have taken the path they have, I just find it joyless.

Nah...Patricia Belcher from Bones looks straight up like Waller from the comics and cartoons.

I remarked that Arrow was "joyless" a while back. That hasn't changed. It's the polar opposite of The Flash (with poor writing to boot). I don't think much can be done to save it at this point- Arrow is still a Batman wannabe, still mining way too much from the Batman playbook.
Removing Waller from the picture means they have big plans for her in the movie universe (especially with Suicide Squad in the wings). I have mixed feelings about this- at least Viola Davis is better cast than Cynthia Addai-Robinson (and can actually act).

And the no killing IS stupid. What is "Spartan" doing with that gun?! And Laurel and that awful screaming. Ugh.

WB's biggest mistake is not creating a singular DC Cinematic/TV universe and having Arrow and Flash tie-into Man of Steel & Batman v Superman. Second biggest mistake, promoting that these separate TV universes can co-exist with the movies and then suddenly kill off characters before they appear in one of those movies.

I don't think the shared movie/tv continuity is all that it's cracked up to be on Marvel's side. I don't think it helped Agents of SHIELD much at all except for a couple instances, and actually hurt it in spots. Ben Affleck is not going to show up on the Flash anytime soon, so what's the point of a shared continuity?

I think Arrow is about the same that it's always been. I've always felt it was a pretty dark and morose show. So it doesn't seem odd to me. Except Laurel. She remains the worst. And Felicity wearing high heels in her wheelchair made me laugh.
I was SHOCKED at the offing of Palmer, especially so casually. My wife didn't realize she was so important as a tertiary character. I was trying to frame it and came up with "Imagine if there was a Superman show that had Perry White on it and then one episode they just killed him." She's not integral to the DC universe but she was on the cartoons, she's in Suicide Squad, etc. I was just really surprised she went out like that.

I don't see the point of separate universes if they're going to withhold certain characters. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman I get. But these are minor characters they're doing.
Viola is a veteran so her acting is better but Cynthia is good too. They're playing two very different versions. Arrow is very New52 Amanda Waller.
Disappointed with this death. I wanted to see the character develop.

Oracle is Barbara Gordon right? Would've made more sense to reference "Wathtower" since it's closer to "Overwatch".

No one in the mainstream media pays attention to what happens in the comics since their audience is limited. It's why the comics can get away doing more with these characters. Everyone in the comics field, from fans to pros, also knows characters get rebooted all the time when sales are down.
