Ridiculous that they killed Waller in tonight's episode.

Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
Loved the oracle comment.
I, too, am surprised they killed Waller. |
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
What was Felicity's code name? I couldn't catch that.
|
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
They had to kill Waller because people would be confused by the change when they see her in the movies. Barry Allen better watch out. He is next.
I missed her code name as well. I thought I heard Widow's Watch or something but that cant be close to what he said. |

I was surprised they knocked Waller off in what basically amounted to an independent solo episode. My guess is that the writers had little time to prepare her death in an elaborate manner. Her sudden death almost certainly means that Waller appears in Batman v. Superman. WB forced Arrow to kill off Deadshot when Suicide Squad was greenlit. The same thing probably occurred with Waller. While I have nothing against the actress playing Waller, they should have gotten a much older, larger woman to play Amanda Waller. It was hard to get past that CW casting when the comic book/animated character has been so vividly rendered. I don't think it's a great loss to the Arrowverse that their Waller is now dead. Did anyone notice that goth Felicity dressed as Death from Sandman? |
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
It's "Overwatch".

Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
I was surprised at the swiftness of Waller's Death. It was totally unexpected.
All in all I thought this was one of the better episodes this season. |
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
DC movie universe strikes again. Though are we still going to see her in flash back?
Also Oracle name drop. |
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
It was cute they at least referenced Oracle. I did enjoy the relationship drama between Oliver and Felicity this episode but I had a very wicked idea when Laurel and Oliver were discussing his problems.
This would be a great, great time for Laurel and Oliver to have an affair. They could spin that in any number of directions. Won't happen of course... |
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
Oh no, DC TV has to kill off this version of Waller because you don't want to confuse the DC cinematic fans when they see Viola Davis as Waller in 7 months. -rolleyes-
I liked seeing Felicity tormented by her evil Goth persona. It was cool seeing John and his brother make up. The baby calling Uncle Andy's name was kind of cute. |

If Deadshot comes back, will it be Will Smith or Michael Rowe.

Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
My last episode. Not only is it depressing and seriously repetitive, it is boring. I may watch the crossover episode with Flash, but Flash is kind of dull too. I did not even start Legends of Tomorrow. Not sure about Agent Carter or even continuing Supergirl. I think I may have reached my comic book limit.

Funny, I just quit as well. I was bored out of my mind and I think the 90 pound girls with no training taking out trained soldiers just zapped me out of it. I loved the show when it was just simple with diggle and Ollie wrecking shop on bad guys. |

That's the new DC 52 version of Waller. That puts an actress like CCH Pounder (who should always play Waller) out of the running.
Unfortunately, I think most of the real die hard comic book fans on Arrow's original staff moved over to the Flash. |
Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
Is the New 52 even relevant anymore? They've basically back peddled it so badly in the comics and are just starting with a "Rebirth" again anyway. I don't see why they have to make it so god damn complicated for themselves with doing silly stuff like this for the sake of the films anyway.

The New 52 is practically dead at this point and I have a hunch will be a largely forgotten continuity within five years. Whomever made that choice at Arrow didn't understand the character that well.

Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
Yea... it's not like they are going to kill off Barry in 2 years just because they're making a Flash movie. Then replace with some new character... like Wally...

Re: Arrow (S4E11) -- "A.W.O.L." -- 1/27/16
That was a crazy episode. We have:
1. A relevant flashback (finally). 2. Felicity beats mental illness in a single episode. 3. A Batman reference. 4. Waller gets murdered. 5. Andy (who's obviously done some serious shit), gets to play with a toddler. Surprised nobody brought up #3. I'm pretty sure Oliver said to Felicity, "I would have called you Oracle but that was already taken". |

I liked season 1 and hung in there but I realized watching this "crazy" episode that Arrow is just crappy television and one of the most maudlin, depressing and repetitive shows ever, with the dumbest morality concept that they still try to shoehorn into the show, but worst of all it is flat boring. Like Walking Dead (which is much worse) I wont miss it for a second. I am maybe just not the right generation or something, I know nothing of the comics and while I like super heros there is just way too much of them, but I guess that is what the 25-49 year olds want.
I don't think Berlanti and his producers ever anticipated the Flash becoming such a wildly popular show. That forced Arrow to change its direction in midstream. |
