I've watched the first 4 episodes and disappointed it has turned into a standard procedural with focus on the main character and his son

The twins have really become irrelevant which is a shame because they are my 2 favourite indian actors in hollywood. The girl twin was the best thing about Greek and the boy twin made the latter seasons of Rules of Engagement

The son being the straight man is just painful to watch

Has anyone been watching this? It seems like they totally retooled it as the episodes went along and it became excellent. I highly recommend people watching the show because it goes in a totally unexpected direction.

I don't have to spoiler it. Roughly, it's not a procedural anymore. It essentially became a discussion on medical ethics. Yes it's in the sci-fi realm, but a lot of the things they deal with towards the final episode don't seem too far removed from reality.

Fox sci-fi shows have a pattern (like Almost Human, Minority Report, Fringe, etc) that start out as procedurals but evolve into serials. It's a shame most never make it out of season one especially since they start getting good on the tail end. This show wasn't great but I liked it.

So was this last episode the season finale? The series finale? Has it been cancelled? This certainly felt like an ending to me.

I watched the whole season. If it doesn't come back the finale pretty much wrapped things up. There is a cliffhanger but it actually doesn't seem interesting.

I honestly don't even remember the "cliffhanger" in the finale.

FOX just has the habit of giving up on sci-fi shows. I'm not even sure why they bother anymore...

Because every once in a while you get a X-files or a Fringe. They might not nourish them, but they are the only network to at least give prime time sci-fi a chance.
