A DISGRACED MAN GETS A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE - WHAT WILL HE DO WITH IT? ON THE SERIES PREMIERE OF "SECOND CHANCE" WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, ON FOX

From executive producer/writer Rand Ravich ("Life," "Crisis") and Emmy Award-winning executive producer Howard Gordon ("Homeland," "24") comes SECOND CHANCE, a thrilling new action-drama about a man brought back to life by two scientists playing god in the quest to save one of their own lives. Seventy-five-year-old JIMMY PRITCHARD (guest star Philip Baker Hall, "Modern Family," "Magnolia") is a shell of his former self. Pritchard was forced to resign as L.A. County Sheriff, charged with corruption and estranged from his family, he is thrown to his death after trying to stop a robbery at the home of FBI Agent DUVAL PRITCHARD (Tim DeKay, "White Collar"), one of his two children. But death is surprisingly short for Jimmy, who is brought back to life by billionaire tech-genius twins MARY GOODWIN (Dilshad Vadsaria, "Revenge") and her brother, OTTO (Adhir Kalyan, "Rules of Engagement"), founders of a social networking empire. Resurrected as a younger, better version of himself, with physical abilities of which he never dreamed, a re-animated Pritchard (Rob Kazinsky, "True Blood") is given a second chance at life. What will he do with it? Will he try to repair the damage he did to his family? Will he embrace a new sense of purpose or fall prey to old temptations in the "A Suitable Donor" series premiere episode of SECOND CHANCE airing Wednesday, Jan. 13 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SCH-101) (TV-14 D, L, V)

I watched the Pilot last night on Hulu. I actually liked it. Has a very unique hook to it with the whole Frankenstein angle, cover up and the murder mystery. Good to see Tim DeKay from White Collar as one of the leads. His character reminded me a lot of Peter Burke from White Collar.

Nice seeing Dilshad Vadsaria again from Greek. I liked her on that show and she's a pretty prominent character on this one.

The lead only has 12 hours in his new body before his body will start rejection which will lead to permanent death. So he needs to regenerate in the tank you see in the above promo photo.

If you want to check out the Pilot early, it's available on those platforms until January 6th.

The Pilot or all?

The Pilot episode, not the entire season. I embedded it from the YouTube channel on my post.

Two years ago I would have given this a shot, but I find myself oddly apathetic about it. I passed on "Minority Report" and based on what I've read I'll pass on "Lucifer"* as well. I'm sort of reminded of that period from the '90s when Fox was throwing all kind of series into the slot in front of the "X-Files", most of which were doomed. After a while, I just stopped bothering to sample them.

*apparently, they're just borrowing the concept of "Lucifer" from Vertigo Comics and inserting it into a police procedural. Of course, this is pretty much the concept of "iZombie", though that has Rob Thomas behind the wheel and I find the show enjoyable.

I watched it today. It was better than I expected. It reminds me a bit of the late 90s show Now and Again.

I liked the characters in this show minus the main character's daughter.

From what I've read, sounds like this starts off as a high concept show, but quickly turns into another run-of-the-mill procedural. That doesn't get me terribly excited so I'll be passing.

Saw it. Wasn't terribly impressed. Acting was pretty poor all around. I may keep watching to see if it gets better.

I thought it was ok.

The lead might remind me too much of Kyle Bornheimer the guy who seems to get shows that are quickly cancelled.

Terrible casting in the male lead, that guy is not a network lead by any stretch. He felt like a very poor man's David Boreanaz. The twins were interesting characters.

This show was constructed from the same mold that produced Minority Report. Fox must be desperate to have another hit crime procedural, they keep going to the same well over and over.

Despite my earlier comments, I will continue watching another episode or two. I didn't love the pilot but the basic concept has potential. I thought the pilot revealed too much.

I have the feeling this won't make it a second season much like Minority Report.

I agree, he had no charisma. I would have rather seen Philip Baker Hall remain as the lead. Also it was totally unbelievable that he was supposed to be the younger version of him. And that his son apparently never saw pictures of what he looked like when he was younger.

Has FOX canceled it yet?

Ugh, why do they always do this? Seems every season there are a half dozen shows that start with an interesting premise & then use it to solve crime. Crime almost always being a murder.

It looks like they always intended to pair this with Sleepy Hollow and wanted the Wednesday premiere to fool people into thinking this was an important new series.

It's another procedural at heart with a resurrected, superstrong man solving crimes.

I watched all episodes within the last few days. I was entertained well enough, however it really is another procedural with one small little element just like Lucifer. I am drawn with shows with magic, powers, comic stuff, sci-fi etc.... yet not sure if ONE little thing is quite enough depending how entertaining the show is.

The pilot actually touched on some interesting ideas but they were seemingly forgotten in the quick rush to produce cases of the week.

This show needed a stronger mystery element woven into its backstory.

Can strongly agree with that.

At the moment there is really nothing else there aside from solving whatever case happens that week. Does not mean it is not entertaining in any way. It just could have or could be more then that.

It's almost like they we're trying to trick us into thinking we were going to be watching a good show. Then it's like "gotcha" and before you know it....another routine murder solving show.

Just once I wish the backstory could be the main story instead of going this route. But I guess that's what cable is for.

Appears that way. A lot of network television likes to use the same concepts over and over. CW tends to have the largest block of shows I watch at seven.

Agreed but I see then taking the easy path and making Jimmy into a Jekyll and Hyde character.

They've almost forgotten about the cancer story, and the brother's personal issues are annoying. At least they didn't drag out his son finding out for the entire season.

Glad they did not drag that out. If this show was from years ago they likely would. Not huge on big secrets kept for several seasons.
