I did like that little nod in the background.

Homer's supposed to be 36. If she was in her mid-20s, it's not that outrageous, coupled with her having daddy issues and it makes sense, at least as far as a dream sequence in a Simpsons episode....

You guys are thinking way too hard on these things.

I find Homer funny, and he's still mostly funny. Done and done.

I work on Sunday nights right now and can't watch it then. I still see some of the newer episodes in syndication when I can. The last newer episode I saw involved hipster neighbors who moved in next door to the Simpsons, it was actually really funny.

Obviously all Simpsons episodes are written months in advance of air. They chose this as the season premiere. They teased the split as a significant event.

I think people grant importance to what the show's producers signal is important.

re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 27 and beyond thread

While a longer term split of Homer and Marge would have been interesting I think we pretty much all knew it was probably going to be an event that was self contained to an episode. While some elements of storylines carry over such as Maude's death, Barney being sober (for a while), etc. a lot of them don't. The Simpsons has never really been a show with continuing story arcs so it isn't really surprising that the split was only temporary. My guess is that when that article came out earlier in the year where Al Jean teased the split it was probably the writer taking a small portion of what he said out of context to make for a bigger story.

I was looking forward to seeing what they would do with a real seperation. This ep was ahuge let down.

I'm still not sure what was a dream and who's dream it was.

If your budget can handle it, there are DVR's that can record over-the-air digital broadcasts onto a hard drive. A one-time expense; no monthly fee. Some can record and playback in high definition and record multiple channels at the same time. The Magnavox models record in standard definition and record and dub between hard drive and recordable DVDs.

Why are they making fun of Dr. Doolittle? Not a good episode.

Meh I liked it. Good episode focusing on the family as a whole even though the plot stringing things together was random.

If your budget can't handle it, break out the old VCR. Put a little piece of scotch tape over the "tab" so you can record over old tapes.

It's usually free on Hulu's website I think?

I hope the xbox One DVR function for OTA comes out soon.

I wish they actually had made fun of Dr. Doolittle by, you know, animating their own version with jokes instead of running clips from the real movie.

Still, I enjoyed this one, much more than last week. The family stuff was good, I liked the stuff about the cooker, and the call-back to Bender still being in the basement was cool.

I liked the Dr. Doolittle episode a great deal. If you paid attention it ripped off a number of classic bits from the Simpson's golden age that we hadn't seen in years. Some of the best Simpsons have had Homer momentarily achieving success or fame, only for some event to take it away.

I loved Marge's line about Lance Armstrong and quitting.

I didn't care at all about the main story with Patty and Selma but loved the Maggie and the animals story. I loved how it was animated and loved the jokes in it and the one just before the credits with Duffman and Hoppy the Parrot. Also loved seeing Plopper, aka Spider-Pig, back in the show.

This was a great episode I thought. The story with Maggie and the animals was adorable and fun to watch. I like when Maggie gets to have her little stories now and again. The main story with Party and Selma was decent enough too I thought. There were some good laughs such Homer throwing bleach in Bart's eyes and his own and I also liked when Homer referenced the couch gags. I liked the opening birthday party for Grandma Bouvier.

I thought the Maggie arc was very cute and a needed change of pace for the Simpsons. The Patty and Selma stuff seemed very predictable, jokes we've gotten a thousand times.

I was okay with the Patty and Selma stuff even though it was predictable. We don't get many episodes where they're central to the story really.

Thought it was a great episode. The storyline with Patty and Selma was good and had enough humor to hold its own throughout. Loved the part about Homer throwing bleach in Bart's eyes and then Bart thanking him. The Maggie storyline was great though and I loved the return of Spider-Pig.

What the heck is "The Halloween of Horror"? I don't think this is a Treehouse Halloween episode.

Like Homer said in the beginning, the Treehouse of Horror is next week. I learned about this because of the Tapped Out game.

This episode was an instant classic. So much greatness from Lisa being scared at the theme park, the scenes with her and Homer in the house and the Halloween store guys trying to get revenge, Apu's pop up Halloween store, and of course grown up Halloween. Also liked the fact that we got a Halloween episode that isn't necessarily a Treehouse of Horror episode. I like those episodes too but this was more unique and plus we still get the yearly Treehouse of Horror episode.

It was okay, I like it better now that I know we are getting a more traditional Halloween episode next week.
