ERICA, BARRY AND LAINEY THROW A PARTY TO REMEMBER WHILE ADAM WORKS ON HIS LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP WITH DANA, ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF ABC'S "THE GOLDBERGS"
"A Kick-Ass Risky Business Party" - Lainey, Erica and Barry plan a big "Risky Business" inspired party at her home, just like the movie, while Lainey's dad is out of town. Later, when the party gets out of control, Beverly jumps to the rescue and Lainey is happy to have a mother figure like Beverly in her life, but for how long? Meanwhile, Adam's relationship with Dana by talking to her for hours on the phone angers Murray. As a result, Adam tries a bunch of new ways to contact her since she's moved away, on the season premiere of "The Goldbergs," WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
"The Goldbergs" stars Wendi McLendon-Covey ("Bridesmaids") as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt ("Ratatouille") as adult Adam Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile ("Good Luck Chuck") as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia ("The X Factor") as Erica Goldberg, AJ Michalka as Lainey Lewis with George Segal ("Just Shoot Me") as Pops Solomon and Jeff Garlin ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") as Murray Goldberg.
Guest starring is Tim Meadows as Mr. Glascott, Stephen Tobolowsky as Principal Ball, Natalie Alyn Lind as Dana Caldwell, Kenny Ridwan as Dave Kim, Stephanie Katherine Grant as Emmy Mirsky, Nate Hartley as Dan, Christopher Avila as Raji and Jim Cody Williams as Bearded Old Guy.

I got into this show midway through last season and enjoyed it thoroughly. Will definitely be watching tonight. Have they explained why the daughter in an East Coast Jewish family is clearly Latina?

AJ Michalka was promoted to series regular for this year. Wonder if her role on Gotham will limit the number of episodes that they get Natalie Alyn Lind this year.

I may have asked this before, but are the characters (at least the kids) going to be suspended in time (kinda like the Simpsons)? The older ones are still in high school, even though they were looking at colleges in season 1.

Yeah, the kid playing Adam really had a growth spurt in the off-season, not to mention he now has to alter his voice. It seemed much more natural before. And I also remember thinking last year that his girlfriend seemed much older than him. Then I made the mistake of doing a Google image search on the actress. Yikes!

I'm wondering if his adult voice will end up being lower than Patton Oswalt, who is supposedly the grown-up version of him.
Much like how Fred Savage developed a deeper voice than Daniel Stern on The Wonder Years. Speaking of which, if you wanna feel REALLY old, just remember that more time has passed between the era of the Goldbergs and today, than between the era of The Wonder Years and the time when it aired.

Just saw it again. There was a reference to his voice changing at the beginning I didn't catch the first time. I'm wondering how Dana received the fax? Not many people had them. Adam also faxed it with the print facing up, when he was supposed to have the print facing down.
I'm not picky with their timelines but what the hell. Everyone knows how to fax.

in "1980 something" not everyone knew how to use fax machines. I don't believe we got one at my place of work (hotel) until 1988 or 1989. Also on some machines you need to have printed side up while others were face down.

In the episode, the little graphic on the fax machine instructed to have printed side down which he did not do. Would like to know how Dana received it.
