Wow, so no one watched this? Are we going back to being cynics again?

It was a fantastic episode. GDT directed the prologue and yes that was Doug Jones. I was surprised to see that the prologue in this first episode of the second season was actually in the first novel.

They also featured the
Spoiler:
"feelers"
and they're creepy cool once unleashed.

As far as the 92 minute running time - it came to about 57 minutes without commercials, so whatever.

Good start

Liked seeing the backstory of the Master and some of Setrakian's childhood.

With The Master's body dying, I wonder who will eventually be his replacement.

That attack at the storage facility at the end was pretty cool. What the heck is Eph going to do with that couple that get bit? Research?

Not 100% sure, but I could have sworn in the scenes for the coming weeks that I saw Eph bald. As some of you know, Corey Stoll is really bald in real life.

There was a shit load of commercials BTW. Literally a commercial break after every scene. The 92 minute running was just to add more commercial time.

I thought it was a great episode. I'm glad it's back - this was my guilty pleasure series last summer. Guilty only in the sense that I think I was the only who loved this show when everyone else was complaining about it.

This episode was a lot better than most of last season. Also enjoyed seeing how 'the Master' came to be and learning a bit more about the Ancients.

So we were wrong about Quinland, that must've been him with the swords in the preview. I guess this Vaun is the head honcho for this trio of Ancients. Why is Setrakian not telling the gang about it? He should at least tell Fet.

I was started by how much Zack had grown until I realized that it was a different actor. I had to pause it go accept my award for moron of the year. He is even more annoying, if possible.

I'm assuming he's going to use them to experiment on to try to find out more about the vampire biology and if he can introduce some sort of virus, probably via the hive mind.

Not 100% sure, but I could have sworn in the scenes for the coming weeks that I saw Eph bald. As some of you know, Corey Stoll is really bald in real life.
His wig in this series is the subject of many, many jokes online.

Yeah, there were a ton. I do like being able to fast-forward through them, the DVR era has it's advantages .

I assumed they would not be happy that he basically agreed to work with the other vampires. They would also probably want to storm that place even though it would be a suicide mission. I think Setrakian is thinking more long-term strategic here.

There was a random dark blur over the guy's genitals. Apparently it's fine to show him getting eaten alive, but not the dreaded nudity.

Yeah, that's true, he's made a deal with the devil, so he must know that even if he gets The Master, the Ancients aren't going to going to need him after, and he doesn't have a back old as yet.

What real estate agent is making a sales call during the vampire apocalypse? How the fuck would she even get around? They're displaying two completely disparate situations whenever is suits them, and it doesn't make a lick of sense. I did like the prologue, figures it was directed by GDT. But man, while sometimes fun (and certainly less boring than Walking Dead), this is one of the dumbest shows out there.

I did think the real estate agent scenes were kind of goofy how they were written. Man did this episode have a lot of commercials.

I guess we'll eventually learn why the children needed to be blind from birth.

Why was Eph's son recast this season?

Given some replies I have seen in other threads I thought for sure people would be going on about how bad the costumes and effects were in this episode. The white body suits on the ancients were especially bad. The ancient in the prologue in particular.

Otherwise it was a great episode. Awesome to see the Master in his human form in the prologue. I'm sure the actor liked having some screen time looking somewhat normal. Also great when Fet and Setrakian get the majority of the screen time.

And what about the big press conference/ceremony in the ground floor lobby of the the building housing the company with the world's worst logo?

Yeah, exactly. How the hell are they holding a press conference when/where people are looting stores with impunity?

Is this silliness with the press conference and the real estate agent in the books? Does seen beyond odd that the writers think that viewers would not question that story line.

I loved how the agent was all prim and proper, showing up in that lift elevator, as if navigating through a quarantined and lawless NY was no big.

I've seen people justify it by saying that there is a media blackout in the entire area except for controlled situations like this press conference. There is also no internet and it's only been 2 weeks. Makes no sense to me.

I've never read the books but I have read some of the comic series. There is one other thing that sticks out to me in the same realm as this. I'll spoiler it just in case it happens in the show.
Spoiler:
There is a Sotheby's auction where Setrakian and Eichhorst get in a bidding war for the Occido Lumen.

I was so close with giving up this show at the end of last season. I reluctantly watched this, primarily because I evidently forgot to delete the season pass, and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this episode more than all the prior ones combined. I guess I'm back in for now.

That spoiler is correct. It's in the books.
