I audibly gasped at that! Jesus! They're really pushing what they can get away with, and I support them 100%.

With fewer than 2m viewers, I feel like they could have an explicit gangbang and it wouldn't register to the greater masses.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
Another beautiful episode. I loved all the scenes with Hannibal and Bedilia, especially when she asked him how his sister tasted. She is one strange female character. Love it!
It seems like the music was even more on point that usual. The only negative I have for this show is that they have fake killed one character too many. I am basing this on the trailer for last week, maybe they will prove me wrong.

They should try your theory, just to be sure.... |

Great episode. Wonder if they will ever tell us who the prisoner was, and if Hannibal killed and ate his sister, what the dude really did to deserve it all. |

But technically, it was Bedilia that killed him.

I think it's pretty obvious that Hannibal killed and ate his sister. The prisoner I believe was a psychological test for Chiyo. Basically, Hannibal wanted to see whether or not Chiyo could kill a person. The scenes set in Eastern Europe had a very mystical feel to them and I enjoyed them alot. And I'm still trying to figure out what Bedalia's "end game" is here. That is going to be real interesting to see as the season goes along. |

I don't want to spoil anything, but has anyone read Hannibal Rising?
This show certainly seems to be borrowing from that. |

I actually didn't care for this episode. While the style of the show has always been as important as the storytelling, I feel like it's starting to overshadow it this season. The show has to have at least some narrative push.
I assume that this episode will end up being a piece in the larger story, but that doesn't mean I didn't spend most of it looking at how much time was left til the end. |

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I assumed they were taking elements from Hannibal Rising without explicitly doing an adaptation of Hannibal Rising, because frankly the last thing anyone wants to see is teenage Hannibal.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
So who exactly was the girl in the house? Hannibal's adopted sister? Did he eat his real sister? Was the guy in the cage his father?
I'm thoroughly confused. |

What do you specifically see coming from that novel? Other than the name of the sister, and the castle, they seem to be going in a different direction with the plot.
Spoiler:

I'm thoroughly confused. Outside of the episode, based on news about the show and info on the novel Hannibal Rising, the woman was... Spoiler:
I think this season is doing a bit of a slow burn with these first few episodes, setting up characters and history for the later episode to play out. |

Canceled:
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/22...celed-nbc?adsf NBC is killing off Hannibal. The network is canceling the show after three seasons. “We have been tremendously proud of Hannibal over its three seasons,” NBC said in a statement. “[Showrunner Bryan Fuller] and his team of writers and producers, as well as our incredible actors, have brought a visual palette of storytelling that has been second to none in all of television — broadcast or cable. We thank Gaumont and everyone involved in the show for their tireless efforts that have made Hannibal an incredible experience for audiences around the world.” Showrunner Fuller also had a statement: “NBC has allowed us to craft a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared, and kept us on the air for three seasons despite Cancellation Bear Chow ratings and images that would have shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforcers. Jen Salke and her team have been fantastic partners and creatively supportive beyond measure. Hannibal is finishing his last course at NBC’s table this summer, but a hungry cannibal can always dine again. And personally, I look forward to my next meal with NBC.” |

This really sucks, but every renewal was a surprise.

I'm not shocked because the show was living on borrowed time, but
Why the fuck was no one watching it?? Was it just too dark for network TV? |

Conversely, the people that regularly watch network procedurals were likely turned off by the dark subject matter and deeply serial storyline. Also, the most recent Hannibal Lector properties (Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon remake) didn't lead people to think it would be good. I got the "The Art and Making of Hannibal: The Television Series" book recently. As I was showing it to someone, they looked at the images and asked, "so it's a cable show, like on HBO?" and were surprised it was on NBC. |
