It's not. Season 4 would be a great stopping point because it's going to be The Red Dragon storyline. C'mon, someone please pick this up! Ive been waiting since Season 1 to get to Season 4.

Supposedly they're doing Red Dragon as part of this season. At one point they were saying season 4, but it seems that they moved it up some.

Yeah, first half of this season is a mix of the events in Hannibal/Hannibal Rising, and the second half is Red Dragon.

A bit more from Fuller on the future. Get the impression from reading the report that he's more hopeful than confident

Bryan Fuller on 'Hannibal's' Future

Yes, NBC has committed to airing the rest of the season.

Has Bryan Fuller yet created a series that he's seen to completion?

Wonderfalls has a complete story arc, although they obviously wanted more seasons. But they saw the writing on the wall for that show and were able to write the final episodes with the idea that they'd most likely be the end of the series.

Will there still be a Blu-ray release of this season?

I'm also afraid that if a service like Netflix picks this up for future seasons that we won't get Blu-ray releases of those seasons.

Fuller said there is no chance Netflix picks up the show because of the deal with Amazon to stream past seasons.

Netflix show House of Cards has released Blu-rays for the its first two seasons. Ditto for the first two seasons of Orange is the New Black and the first season of Hemlock Grove. Amazon show Alpha Dog has a season one Blu-ray

So shows on streaming services get home-video releases. In fact, they seem more likely to get Blu-ray releases than network shows (which are sometimes DVD-only).

It's (generally?) down more to the people who make the show rather than the people like Netflix who show it.

House of Cards makes the rounds on Blu-ray courtesy of Sony since they ultimately produce the series. (The third season comes out on BD on July 7th.) Fox released the fourth season of Arrested Development on DVD (frustratingly, not on Blu-ray) after a little while.

Lionsgate produces Orange is the New Black, so they're the ones who make the call about home video releases (although Netflix probably has an exclusivity window for a little while).

As luck would have it, Lionsgate is also behind Hannibal's BDs, so I think we're in good shape here.

On another topic, am I the only person who's not really hooked by this season so far? It's too slow a burn, and too many of its characters are being kept too far apart. There are plenty of individual moments I love, but it hasn't sunk its claws into me the way Hannibal usually does.

The thread for episode two had a number of people complaining about this season so far. I think maybe the lack of the "case of the week" from the first parts of seasons 1 and 2 maybe masked the slow character building and establishing of the season arc in those seasons. Now that it's focusing on just the characters and story arc, it might feel to some that there's less "happening" in a given episode, even if what's happening is them catching a random serial killer we'll never see again.

I'm liking the slow, meditative tone of the show. But then, I also liked Sense8. ;)

Yeah, I bought the first two seasons of House of Cards on Blu-ray since they were so cheap. I'm still waiting for the last seasons of The Killing and Arrested Development to come out on Blu-ray though. There is a DVD for the last season of AD, but no BD.

One day I may have to actually get Netflix if I ever get internet service without a bandwidth cap.
