Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I'm sure Amazon or another similar carrier will get on board. It will be a huge win for the one that picks it up. Looking forward to what they can add when they don't have to be limited by what can play on NBC.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
Probably wasn't a smart move scheduling its Premiere to go up against NBA Finals.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
it's very dry and oddly paced... don't get me wrong, I love it, and hope it finds new life somewhere else, but most American's are too fucking dumb to appreciate a show like this.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I didn't realize this season is only 10 episodes instead of the 13 that the last two got. Honestly I'm surprised this show made it to three seasons on NBC. The show isn't just gory, it's genuinely dark and nihilistic and so far off the beaten path that every second that aired on network TV shocked me.
I sincerely hope Amazon picks it up. I will watch this show for as long as someone is producing it. And by the way, that making of book is terrific! Very much worth picking up. |
Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
bring it on Amazon!

Why the fuck was no one watching it?? Was it just too dark for network TV? |
Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I think NBC did fine with it. They gave a show with abysmal ratings 3 seasons, that's more than most networks.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I wonder if all 13 episodes have been filmed already, if not will be interesting to see if they change the story to wrap things up.
|
Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
No way they wrap things up given somebody else picking it up is almost a certainty. Only thing I could see causing problems is actors choosing to leave. Not sure if people are contracted for more seasons or not.

Picking the show up is almost a certainty? You know something we don't?

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I am so sad it got cancelled. It's such a great show. I am hoping that someone picks it up & the meal can go on. If not, it's a big waste.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I am surprised that NBC allowed the show to go as dark and violent as it has, but in the end i think them cancelling it and the show moving to a Netflix or HBO style channel will only help. If its this dark and violent on basic cable just think of where they can take i when the gloves come off. I am positive this show will get picked up, it has been nothing but quality since episode one.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
If The Mindy Project and Longmire can find a new place to air (that isn't a comment on their quality), then this certainly can. Amazon seems like the most likely option.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
I just think that with the critical acclaim the show has it makes somewhere like Amazon or Hulu or even Netflix more of a destination than it already is. Maybe I'm just doing wishful thinking.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
Who knows if this show will land some place else, but one thing it has going in its favor is that it's not a terribly expensive show to make from what I understand. So that helps. I would love if the show gets brought to Netflix, and is giving a 2 season order. Let Fuller know exactly how much time he has to pull everything in and tell the story he wants to tell.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
If they can get the rights to properly adapt SotL in season 4, I'm all for it getting picked up elsewhere. Otherwise, I almost feel like 3 seasons is a good stopping point.

Re: Hannibal (S3E03) - Secondo - 6/18/15
The cancellation news is barely a couple of hours old, but I hear that there has been a significant interest in Hannibal from other outlets. The one that would make most sense is Amazon, which already has exclusive rights to the existing three seasons of the show as part of a four-year, five-show deal with NBCUniversal. The deal is in the middle of its term, which would complicate potential negotiations with Amazon competitors like Netflix. Also worth mentioning is that Fuller, who has run the show for the first three seasons, has no showrunner deal going forward. He just landed his next series, American Gods at Starz, which he is doing with Michael Green. But Fuller has been passionate about Hannibal and had indicated that he likely would find a way to stay involved if the show continues. (Green serves as day-to-day showrunner on American Gods.) It is not easy but has happened before: Cult comedy Community was dealt the same fate as Hannibal last year, getting cancelled by NBC, but subsequently was picked up by Yahoo. Hannibal, from Gaumont International TV, is a well-reviewed, upscale series with a small but devoted following and strong social media presence — something digital networks crave. Also working in Hannibal‘s favor is the fact that the show is still on the air, with 10 new episodes yet to air, giving potential buyers a series that still would be fresh in viewers’ minds. And the fan support for the show should get an extra boost next month, with Fuller rallying fans at Comic-Con. He confirmed post-cancellation today that the show would still be going to the comic book convention in San Diego. |

Seems like it's also been confirmed that they are done shooting, so it's unlikely that the show takes any direction that wasn't already planned. |
