at least the show will have an end game not like the books that will never end

I wonder how upset people would be if the true ending (and I have no clue about the books, this is just for fun) is that the white walkers win and wipe out humanity. All these seasons of interpersonal angst and fighting for the throne and dragons and such (and apparently in the books hundreds of pages of minutia), and they just lose, like the ultimate troll ending.

I'd love it.

I'm sure there will be a lot of loss and hurt along the way, and doubt that the ending will be all happy smiley sunshine, but I'd definitely bet against an ending where the humans ultimately lose.

That would be great. Walkers win and send the planet into an ice age. Killing everyone except Varys who somehow kept paddling. Last man standing and he's not even a man.

Spoiler:
There is some speculation that the Iron Throne is made of Valyrian steel, since it was exposed to dragon fire. So her line of "breaking the wheel" refers to the throne itself, so they'll take apart the throne to combat the WW threat.

Ooooh I like that.

That would be flipping horrible.

Even GRRM has stated that his ending will be bitter sweet. If its just 7 years of caring for characters only to troll them and have everyone lose?

Last shot will be of Bronn singing off into the sunset.

I thought about that too. The show ends with all humanity wiped out and the main White Walker guy sitting on the iron throne. It would be interesting, to say the least and it would be hilarious to see everyone flip out.

Which is why its not going to happen, Do you want to kill your 'Game of THrones' cash cow by trolling the very people that are giving you the cash?

I don't think it will happen either, if only because a storyteller usually wants to make his stories have a point and not just be for shock value (which is why you don't build up a character like Jon Snow and then have him die of frostbite coming back from Hardhome or something), but what does GRRM care, is he going to be around to spend it after he finishes the last book? ;)

I did have a few moments where I thought Jon might die in this episode. Sam saying "Jon always comes back" gave me a little moment of fear. Then during the attack I thought "What if Sam is right, but he comes back as part of the dead army?"

I didn't seriously think it would happen, but the "always comes back" struck me as a little "Two days from retirement" in its delivery.

What if the books and show end in completely different ways?

Yeah! And have the final scene in the series show Varys standing in a library full of books but he breaks his last pair of reading glasses.

I wonder if they will do a study in King's Landing regarding the economy and amount of hookups and sexual assaults after the brothels there have shuttered.

One writer's speculation/spoiler based off of hardhome the end game.
Spoiler:
Night King will turn Jon into a White Walker..and It will be Jon (Ice) vs Dany & Dragons (fire). Somehow wither Jon will return to the good guys..

Did you ever watch Lost? :)

But yeah, you're right. It obviously won't happen. It wouldn't make any sense.
