Tuco probably won't be around much.
(not going to spoiler this because if you're reading this and haven't watched this episode....well then, you shouldn't be here)

That was awesome!! Loved Jimmy negotiating with Tuco to break one leg each. That was an intense sequence.
I liked how the episode started picking it up from Tuco and his grandmother's perspective.
Jimmy: "I just talked you down from a death sentence to 6 months probation."

Fcking awesome. So glad we didn't have to wait years for the BB masterminds to give us another series.

I'll be the odd man out and say I liked the first episode much better then this. I think I just didn't care for how long and drawn out the Tucco stuff ended being, as much as I liked the negotiating part. Looking forward to what happens next though with the other guy.

That was the problem for me with this scene: Anyone who watched BB will know Jimmy/Saul is not going to die, so there was just no tension here at all & it felt flat. LOVE the show, but just hope not much is based on that stuff. I did like how he said he crossed a line but would NEVER do that again...

But I think that's the role the twins played in the scene. They know we know Saul won't die but there was still a shit load of tension regarding their outcome in all this.

Also while I fully expect to see him at some point I think Gus will show up later on during the course of the series. First off Jimmy/Saul and Mike have to get to be more "friends" and let's not forget Saul doesn't actually know Gus directly. According to what he said on Breaking Bad he knew him through Mike so its possible that the amount we actually see of that character on the show will be pretty limited.

That guy at the bar sure ate a lot of breadsticks. The intro with Tuco, the scene in the desert, the breadsticks at the bar and the montage with Jimmy and Mike all went on longer than they should have, but it worked.
So glad they've been able to keep most (if not all) of the creative team from BB. Michelle MacLaren and her direction are no exception.

Good, not great. I hope there's some good payoff w/ the brother stuff, because right now, it is dragging down the show.

Well to be fair, in most shows, the fucking protagonist is not going to die within the first two episodes, or even throughout the majority of the series run.

There have been great interviews on the Hollywood reporter with Vince and Gould, and with Bob Odenkirk after each of the first two episodes, and then with Michelle and the actor that plays Tuco after last nights episode. I have a feeling these were done a few weeks ago at that tv/critic thing but it will be nice if they continue. Lots of interesting info.

The time period premiere of Better Call Saul Monday night drew 3.4 million total viewers and 2.1 million among adults 18-49 on Monday at 10 PM (which averages to about a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating, depending on rounding). Sunday's series premiere earned a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating, and notched 6.9 million viewers following the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead
3.4m viewers (down from about 6.8) last night, still above anything from Season 5A and prior of Breaking Bad.

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I saw the actor who plays Nacho before - turns out it's the same guy who plays Vic on ORPHAN BLACK. He's a good actor.
Not surprised that the ratings fell, but those are still strong numbers. Besides, the show's already been picked up for a second season, so if it struggles on Mondays, I'm sure AMC might move it elsewhere for Season 2.

Having The Walking Dead as a lead-in on Sunday was basically equivalent to having the Super Bowl as a lead-in. Sports, let alone massively popular shows with different kinds of audiences rarely work as an audience builder for a new show. Ask The Blacklist, New Girl or Elementary.
Someone who is a regular viewer of The Walking Dead, but hasn't seen one episode of Breaking Bad, but forgot to change the channel on Sunday is unlikely to stick with the show IMO.

Yeah just once I'd like to see a 2 hour block on AMC of Sunday original programming. It would have been fucking awesome seeing MM and BB back to back.

I thought the exact same thing that those scenes went on for a little too long. Still, great show so far.

It's great seeing the birth of Saul Goodman.
Tuco telling the other guy to shut up, the one he killed in BB, was a great reference.
I can't wait for more cameos/references.
And of course the series finale, when he meets Walt.

Ending this series with meeting Walt would be like ending Frasier with Sam Malone getting married. The show will grow and have its own specific moments to build on and end with. Plus their initial meeting wouldn't be very remarkable from Saul's point of view anyway, as Walt was attempting to disguise himself as Badger's uncle.

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E02) -- "Mijo" -- 2/9/15
I would imagine this show ends the way it began, concluding Saul's story after Breaking Bad. That opening scene contained a great deal of "How did I get here" written all over it. Saul has come across as a good guy getting roped into bad things, and I think he's still worthy of redemption.
