It has a key that looks like the one from Man of Steel, Krypton even looks like the one from Man of Steel. They also have dialogue referencing the crest meaning hope so that screams prequel. Even if it is a slightly distanced prequel.

I suspect this will go the way of Caprica. Unlike Gotham, I can't see any way to make this campy-fun, which is how Gotham survives outside of the official DC sphere.

I will be very interested in seeing the set design for this version of Krypton. I really hope they don't pattern it after the bleak Man of Steel Krypton.

Not that I know of. They've had Imaginary Stories where Lex goes back in time to mess around on Krypton before Superman was born, but there isn't a lot of DC material in this period of Krypton.
