I agree. What do people want these characters to be rushing toward? There is no endgame for this group. Do viewers think any show could maintain non-stop wall to wall action and one conflict after another? My god...

Van Theory: the van spun off the bridge with a clear, unobstructed path to the ground. As it sailed through the seemingly empty sky, it hit something (zombie? another car? Carol?) which happened to be the only other thing in the sky for miles around. This impact caused the van to flip unnaturally and land on its wheels.

This theory is sponsored by the Lori Grimes School for Driving (and now Flying).

The van bugged the shit out of me too.

As for the rest of the episode, agree that it felt like filler since we already know that Carol ends up being taken. While I was curious how it all unfolded and if Carol going in was planned, I didn't need the entire episode to get to that point, and wish they did it half way through so we could get 25 minutes of what happens after the fact. I don't mind the slower episodes like this one or the one with Beth, but the execution of both have been fairly poor. If the hospital folks were set up as a bigger threat instead of a scared doctor and an angry cop in charge that lets other cops rape people, it would make episodes like this far more interesting. And no, it's not all about wanting gore in every episode.

Good ep with a lot of nice character moments. I especially liked how Daryl used Everybody Hates Chris' predicament to show Carol that she wasn't as far gone as she likes to think.

The van scene could have been saved if they had just dropped it nose first and pulled it backwards with cables, but I'm sure multiple takes of stunts like this are beyond the show's budget.

What bothered me was both times something 'unexpectedly' happened to Carol was when she was not paying attention like she should. When she walked through that door throwing the guns out without looking and then coming out with her back towards the room, it was pretty obvious that something was gonna happen to her. And then running in the street and not noticing a car coming.

How often are they having to check for cars these days? Or randomly running into other people?

It's obvious something will happen because it's a TV show. I knew that Carol was going to somehow be captured because the episode was almost over and she was separated from Daryl at that moment. But Carol didn't know that. When was the last time she had to check for traffic?

The van falling off the bridge has to be the absolute worst thing ive ever seen on the show. First of all, no way the two of them would actually be able to rock it to fall with the small amount of the front end hanging off. Secondly, and this was more bizarre is once it began to fall it was about to flip over then they cut to it landing perfectly on all 4 tires.

Also, all the zombies magically disappeared when the van started to fall. I know most of them would of been out of view, but some should of been visible. That whole sequence was just terribly shot and edited. Must of been an intern's summer project to direct and edit that scene.

That entire scene was cringeworthy and could of easily been handled better.

Obvious to us, the viewers. I don't think I would be looking for cars either if I was in her situation where they are a near rarity.

The van physics could have been easily solved by having it face the opposite direction. Carol and Daryl enter the van through the front doors and start searching. Walkers show up and press against the van pushing it off the bridge. At first the rear tips down but after the rest slides over the edge, the heavy engine brings the front back down. The van lands upright.

I'm not saying she should have looked for cars, but I think a speeding car would be kind of obvious in an otherwise quiet city.

People get hit by speeding cars all the time in all kinds of places. I think you are discounting months of not having to look for any cars.

Also, it had to happen to get Carol to a hospital because it's still a TV show.

I liked this episode better than the last couple. Carol and Daryl are far more interesting to watch than most of the other characters.

I don't really understand why they were running out of the building in the first place. The car was driving by so I would think the last thing they'd want to do is go outside and risk being seen.

I also think we can expect a flashback in the next episode to explain how the van landed.

And let's not forget that the MO of the hospital Nazis is to run down and/or injure their quarry in order to enslave them into debt bondage. They hit her on purpose.

Speeding? Any RUNNING older car not only would have been seen, but heard long before it could hit anybody. We're not talking about a newer hybrid or electric vehicle.

But haivng to accept this kind of stuf is nothing new.

So instead of having them in seatbelts, they're now flopping around as the van tumbles to the ground? And even in your scenario, there's no way that van lands on its wheels.

When the bookcase fell on Noah and Daryl was ready to leave him to die, was I the only one thinking ♫ "Everybody haaates Chris" ♫ ?

The show continues to be a ratings monster. This ep scored a 7.3 in the demo. That's higher than Sunday Night Football.

I absolutely love them using a rundown city as a setting instead of constant rural locations, and hope they use it for more then just this arc. That said, Carol and Daryl wandering around did feel odd as far as their decisions and movement

Again, I think this is a silly point of contention, but people are hit by cars ALL THE TIME. Sometimes on quiet roads.

The whole getting hit by a car doesn't really bother me in itself; it bothers me more that the writers couldn't think of a far more interesting way of getting Carol in to hospital. Heck, the aftermath of the van crash would have made more sense.

Loved this episode. It had a ton of longer shots with no cuts and knew when to let silence happen. A ton was said without characters narrating their thoughts or spelling out exactly what was going on.

From what I saw in the behind the scenes videos, even production concedes that they would not survived that fall & it would not land like that. When they tried the stunt the first time the van landed flat on its top, the only way they managed to get it to fall on its wheels was dropping it without a flip. I think they must have already filmed the actor's scenes and they just had to make it work the best they could.

She was attacked and captured by the cops in a method that fit with their previous MO. It's also the only way Carol could have been captured on her own without getting Daryl involved, without nerfing Carol's badassness, and without the cops getting decimated (remember, the hospital crew does not "keep" those who fight back). The only other option would be for Carol to pull a Trojan Horse gambit, and there's no way Daryl would let her do that and no way Carol would voluntarily render herself the helpless victim she once was.

I swear, some folks fixate on the most inconsequential things. If that van scene had taken place on Z Nation, youse guys would still be applauding it.

And some folks make excuses for everything that happens on the show and can't seem to accept any criticism about the show. Same shit, different perspective no?

Also, I hardly think it was the ONLY way Carol could have been captured. Especially in a way that happened to get her captured with Daryl and Noah conveniently out of the picture and unnoticed.

Noah pulled him back - it wasn't like a security gate closed in front of him. And made the point that they would give her medical help.
