There is no show without Claire Danes/Carrie. I don't think there is any way to eliminate her character from the series.

Which is unfortunate because it really kills the show's credibility and sense of realism because I don't think (and certainly hope there isn't) any way that someone as unstable as Carrie would be given any kind of responsibility in the CIA. She's one freakout away from a foreign relations nightmare.

Then again, I look at all of the shit Brody pulled in the previous three seasons and remember that logic and realism left Homeland a long time ago.

I think it's very possible to drop Carrie. Make the show about the CIA and its spooks (e.g. Quinn & Fara duo as previously suggested) protecting the titular homeland.

The show is still relatively young and it could work; unlike, say...The X-Files that tried to feed us Doggett and Reyes (same idea, we just didn't care anymore by then, though).

Danes is a producer and the star of the show. She's a thirty-five year-old former teen star whose film career never took off. She's going to hold onto this role like grim death.

Even though they've written Carrie to be so unstable that she couldn't be trusted to be a shift manager at Arby's, let alone run sensitive intelligence operations, I don't think she's going anywhere.

Sad to see this show fall this far.

I'm still watching, but not caring much, usually on two screens.

Is ISI the same group as ISIS?

No. I-SI is Pakistan's version of the CIA. ISIS are jihadists that claim Iraq and Syria.

Also, Fara is a real fine piece of ass.

The funny thing is I used to root for Carrie to be correct on her theories whenever anyone doubted her. Now I am rooting against her, because she has become so unlikeable. It's a shame as this show has just gone off the rails, and I don't think it will ever recover. I'll stick with it because I got this far and have invested time in these characters (Quinn and Fara are the only characters that are interesting anymore), but Homeland will go down as one of the greatest shows early in its run that just dropped in quality so quickly.

This is exactly how I feel. The first season is some of the best TV I've ever seen. I also wasn't as down on Season 2 (although most of it was preposterous) as others were, but Season 3 was pretty bad collectively and this season is just kind of eh.

I just dislike Carrie now, and I feel like I'm watching it out of habit more than wanting to see what happens next. I'll have to echo what others have said and would prefer a Fara/Quinn show but that will (obviously) never happen.

Yep, agreed as well.

THis probably will be my last season, unless they turn this ship around fast.

Carrie isnt supposed to be likeable. She almost drowned her kid. She's still an interesting character.

RIP Ayan

Poor Kid. Got involved with the wrong woman. Once he and Carrie separated and we saw that meeting take place, he was as good as gone.

I'm not going to overthink it, I was entertained in this episode. There was some good tension and I liked seeing Carrie lose it and Quinn overriding her order when they saw Saul.

From the looks of things, Carrie might be regressing to being unstable again. Hell, the Ambassador's husband saw her medicine cabinet is a pharmacy when he was passing off those photos and Intel.
