I mentioned this in one of the movie threads, but it's amazing what short-term memories people have. When Grant Gustin was first cast, there were many many people complaining that he looks nothing like Barry Allen. Too young, not blonde hair, etc.

I still wouldn't mind if they dyed Grant's hair with blond streaks or something. I bet they've already screen tested it and he didn't look that good with them. I'll give it time, Arrow's entire look morphed over his first season.

One thing I've been happy with is how the costume looks in motion. I didn't think much of the pre-show publicity shots but the costume works for the most part. It wouldn't surprise me to see it refined even more by season two.

Yeah, I was short-handing it, but you are right. But Barry and Iris are married (or were, pre-Flashpoint -- not sure if that's still true), so Wally is Barry's nephew by marriage.

I'm not that much of a fan of the costume, to be honest. I liked the version from the Shipp series better.

(Sidenote: I wonder what Amanda Pays and Alex Desert are up to).

I thought Shipp was a little too built for playing the Flash back in the day. That costume had ridiculously padded muscles for its time. I did like its overall design, it was pretty faithful to the classic Flash costume.

I missed this one as my Tivo didn't record as I didn't realize there was a conflict (bye bye new girl).

Just an FYI you can re-watch on the CW app.

Another really good ep!

Is this the app that is on Xbox One? How soon are episodes available? I lack CW on my DirectTV

I downloaded the App to my iPad and watched it there. You have to deal with the commercials, but to be honest they weren't' too bad. It's a nice option to have for CW stuff.

Well, Amanda Pays is coming back as... Tina McGee

The CW's soon-to-debut series "The Flash" has added another link to the original "The Flash" TV series: Amanda Pays will play Dr. Tina McGee, the same character she played in the CBS show that ran for one season from 1990 to 1991, as reported by sources including Variety.

Though the character name is the same, the situation is different: In the earlier "Flash" series, McGee was a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs. While S.T.A.R. Labs is very much a part of the new show, McGee will be an employee of a rival scientific firm.

That's great news! I really like how respectful this series is being of the Shipp version. I know this is it's own show and that's cool, but they didn't have to cast Shipp as Barry's dad, or bring back Pays. Hopefully, they'll find a way to bring back Desert for an episode, assuming he's interested (once he finishes with your car, obviously).

First Arrow, and now The Flash. I was digging The Tomorrow People to a lesser degree, but I'm glad the CW has some shows I watch regularly.

For 1990 it was not bad.

It was an amazing costume for 1990. I remember all the press for the 90's show, they kept harping on how expensive that costume cost to make.

Yeah that costume was really well done for any decade. They really went all out after the idea of having him run in a red track suit went away.

Anyone else think the acting isn't that good on the show? I almost hate to say it, because I want the show to work, but some of the line deliveries are downright terible.

It was a nice looking suit but it was WAY too bulky for the Flash, who always had more of a lean, runner's build than a massive juicehead wannabe.

This show is an unqualified smash success in terms of ratings. It is hitting numbers the CW has rarely ever seen. Strangely, it is almost doubling Arrow's ratings. I have no idea why someone would watch The Flash and ignore Arrow, though I think their different nights play a factor.

You can now safely expect The Flash on for a minimum of five seasons. I have heard the CW requested using Ted Kord and were denied by DC/Warner.

Re: The Flash (S1E02) -- "Fastest Man Alive" -- 10/14/14

You can count me amongst the folks who are watching the Flash but not Green Arrow. It's nothing against Green Arrow, I just didn't really have any interest in the show when it debuted and despite the buzz have yet to jump on the bandwagon. It didn't help that it was on the CW. Before the Flash I don't think I had watched more than 3 minutes of the CW. I love the Flash (the character that is) though, so I made sure to set the dvr.

That said, I'm pretty stunned at the numbers. The Flash is certainly a more well known character than Green Arrow, but it's not like he's Batman.

Caught up with all my shows this weekend. Overall, I thought this episode was alright. Not as good as the pilot. But man, that ending caught me completely off guard.

Eh I think it worked well for the type of body John Wesley Shipp had. He never would have looked right in another costume because he was built pretty well.

The girl that plays Iris is absolutely awful. Same with the young scientist guy. Ally McBeal dude is the best. I'm not a fan of William Sadler at all, he's a one note actor.
