What do you mean getting bad? This is the third time you've made a thread about this subject. Look at post #42 from 2018.

Re: Shows that got better through its run?

As has been previously observed, it's normal for shows that last to start out a bit clunky and work out the kinks.

The challenge is for a show to get better . . . and keep improving until the end. For me, Breaking Bad is the best example of this. It wasn't bad when it started out, but the drama and tension and stakes just kept ramping up season after season until the end.

Or get better and never have a drop off in quality. And for me, it's Seinfeld. I know some people think the show got cartoony after David left, but episodes from the last two seasons are many of my favorites. I can agree that there was less observation in the humor, but they are just plain funny.

And as a Star Trek person, I would say DS9 and Voyager didn't hit their strides until Worf and Seven showed up. The later seasons of those shows are like day and night compared to where they started out.

I didn't even notice the date on this thread when I started reading and seeing all these Walking Dead comments. Wow, little did they know!

Even though most people dislike Jim Caviezel now, I think his show Person of Interest got way better as it progressed. I think it was a show ahead of it's time on how technology affects and disrupts our lives. It got better after Taraji P. Henson left and it went from "Victim of the week" to mixing that and an overall serialized arc.

Absolutely agree on DS9 and VOY. Jeri Ryan especially brought a new energy to that show that the franchise as a whole really needed.

The whole ordeal with the Governor was bad enough, we weathered that, but The Walking Dead lost my wife and I when they brought in Negan.

Same here. It was a fun ride up until that point. They wanted to make a 1:1 translation of the comic book Negan and turns out mustache twirling a 2-dimensional villain on the page doesn't work the same in a real world setting.

My daughter and I just started watching Rebels last week. We're towards the end of season 1. It's not bad. How's it clunky? The Inquisitors are terrible villains but other than that, it's been pretty good.

To me it felt like the stories lacked focus. Like, is there a specific endgame in mind for these actions?

But as I said, it gets even better.

The show got much better when it gave up the pretense it was a episodic procedural and morphed into a serialized tech thriller. Henson's departure allowed them to drop the cop angle which was holding the show back some.
