Montoya was created for the show and brought into the comics shortly thereafter, I think Bullock was adapted from the comics for the show.

Bullock getting his butt handed to him by the big chick was classic.

Crime scene where they were using a snow shovel to scrap the old lady and the body that hit her off the street was pretty funny, too.

Who's a pervert now!?

Bullock's been around since at least the 70's in the comics.

heh, I was always under the impression they were both created in/for Batman: TAS. Maybe it was only just Harley Quinn.

Re: Gotham (S1E3) - "The Balloonman" - 10/6/2014

I enjoyed the ep. For me it tied into the fact that Gotham is a mess and people are desperate for some change. The town is driving people over the edge on both sides of "Good and Bad".

Penguin continues to be the highlight of the show. As I said before, he is pretty much making the show his own. Jada, is fun to watch too.

At first i was agreeing with those of you who said there was too much Bruce, but I think I like the amount they are giving us because none of his scenes are throw away. Sure, we get he will become Batman, but it's still good to see him dealing with this mess as a boy.

I agree this was the worst of the three we've seen so far...but it wasn't bad - it just felt very much like a "filler" episode as far as the overall story arc is concerned.

I expect it all to be filler until episode 14 or so. Then the big climax followed by a shadowy introduction of Joker.

They need the Court of Owls and Dr. Hurt.

Q: is Barbara or her family loaded with money or something? There's no way Gordon would be able to afford that place on a law enforcement salary.

Re: Gotham (S1E3) - "The Balloonman" - 10/6/2014

Good episode Agreed that the Balloonman plot was the weakest element, but the Penguin, Falcone/Fish, Selina, and Bruce bits made up for it. Better than last week's by far. This show needs more time to find its footing, but I think it'll get there.

The comic timing and execution of Harvey punching her was great.

This show isn't wowing me, but it does have its moments. I do need to keep in mind all this had been filmed, so they've yet to get feedback or discover their own strenghts/weaknesses. I expect you'd see some of that around episodes 6-8.

I do like the continual and underlying plot threads of the world at large. Mayor, crime bosses, orphans, etc.

Quinn was, definitely. I'm not sure about Montoya, I think she was created for the show and brought into the comics almost immediately after.

Re: Gotham (S1E3) - "The Balloonman" - 10/6/2014

Is it just me or was it really bizarre how Gordon and Bullock seemed puzzled on the effects of gravity? "So the balloon pops? Then what happens?"

Then again when Bullock chains Balloonman to his own balloon Gordon grabs him instead of just shooting it? Not quite the quick thinker he was in the pilot (taking out the thug in police HQ).

Other than that, good episode.

I was thinking the same thing. Lazy writing.

I didn't really care for the whole Balloonman thing; I'm hoping they don't just have this freak of the week type of thing with 10 minutes of Penguin and 10 minutes of the Wayne murders. The show has yet to really wow me or hook me with anything in particular, but it's mildly entertaining so i'll keep watching.

Uh. If they were going to do the Court, then you'd be seeing owl sculptures everywhere.

GOTHAM does not do subtle very well. Or at all.

Also, the writers of the show may not know this, but the bodies probably wouldn't land close by in Gotham. There's this thing called "wind."

Absolutely needs the court of owls and could work so easily given the time frame.

With Court of Owls, you don't need the Bruce or "Cat" shit.

It was her apartment before Gordon, that's why Montoya had a key.

Love the retro, grimy look of the series, like a graphic novel. But it just ruins the setting when they pull out a cell phone. What year is this supposed to be?

Re: Gotham (S1E3) - "The Balloonman" - 10/6/2014

That's murky. They seem to be blending years. They have cell phones, but all the computers look like early 90's relics. I kinda like the mixing of tech.

Any car people here that can make out vehicle models? That'd be a decent start.
