Re: Manhattan Love Story (ABC) - Series Thread

I am looking forward to viewing the second ep, but this show did not even crack a 1 rating in the 18-49 category, so I will not be surprised if there is an announcement this week that ABC is pulling the show from its schedule. I think that by no later than mid-next week, that we are going to see the beginning of the networks performing a major house-cleaning of shows that are withering on the vine when it comes to the all important 18-49 category.

Forever might escape the axe because it seems to have stabilized and was even with last weeks episode, but Selfie and MLS are nothing but ratings disasters, and will be given the old heave-ho (I know it was heavily hyped and is an hour drama compared to a sitcom, but The Flash DOUBLED the 18-49 ratings compared to MLS, so I bet some ABC Executives were squirming in their leather office chairs over whether or not to skip any attempts at positive spin and acknowledge that a CW show getting twice the 18-49 as your show is indeed an unmitigated disaster).

I dunno, it's hard to compare The Flash since not only was it heavily hyped, as you say, but it's a known (to nerds) character with ties to an established series (Arrow).

That said, ratings are ratings, and we know that new shows have short leashes, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it killed.

It's a shame this show is tanking in the ratings. I think it's hit its groove. This past episode is the first one that gave us a bunch of moments. Analeigh Tipton is just too freakin' adorable.

I'm already on the record in this and the "attractive" thread as being smitten with Analeigh Tipton.

What I don't get is why people are tuning in for Selfie then tuning out for MLS. Granted, I've seen only one episode of Selfie so maybe it's vastly superior. Or maybe it's just getting better buzz.

http://tvline.com/2014/10/22/agents-...son-2-ratings/

ABC’s Selfie was looking good (all things being relative) this Tuesday, rising 12 percent and a tenth to draw 3.8 million total viewers and a 1.1 demo rating (per finals) opposite the World Series.

Manhattan Love Story, however, felt little love, sliding 7 and 22 percent to 2.7 mil/0.7.

I don't watch it but it seems like a show that belongs on NBC since NBC has all the sitcoms set in New York.

I liked this show. The leads had chemistry and I liked the supporting characters too. The show reminded me of some shows on USA.

No surprise, but I was hoping to get more episodes. Maybe they shot more and will burn them off some Saturday night.

I think MLS has been much better than Selfie. It does seem strange that MLS loses that much of its lead-in audience.

I liked the lead girl and hope to see her on something else. Maybe they can hire her to replace one of the leads on that Garfunkel and Oates show. That would be a big improvement for that show.

Umm the two leads created Garfunkel and Oates. They are not going to replace themselves.

The show reminded me of some shows on USA.
And had about the same size audience, too.

Re: Manhattan Love Story (ABC) - Series Thread

It was stupid to name the show after Manhattan. That automatically sends signals to the audience about what to expect and cleaves half of your potential viewership. This is not a network environment where a show can build an audience like thirty years ago. It has to hit, and hit immediately.

That's a shame although the only reason I watched it (on demand) was because of the girl. and her eyes. Selfie is ok, is much darker and is cynical which I like but it has a lot of silliness to it.

Re: Manhattan Love Story (ABC) - Series Thread

the writing/dialogue felt contrived to me. the leads, no matter how much i liked them, couldn't sell it sadly. i hope someone takes notice of the girl and puts her in something better that lasts. hopefully the lead dude can get by on his "Greek" money for awhile.

They should just cancel both shows and make a new show with Analeigh Tipton and Karen Gillan (without her real accent) as co-leads.
