Good episode but what was up with the Precious hatred?

re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
The meeting scenes at Dre's work are almost always comedy gold.

Making the boss more of clown than a stiff really makes those scenes great. And Charlie is just awesome
|
re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
Just caught up with the last two episodes. Still loving the show. Charlie is great.
|
re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
I love this show. Charlies rant last week about not getting delivery because he doesn't want his cornmeal stolen was classic.

Pops paying the homeless guy to watch Dre when he was young was hilarious
"Son, No-Neck Tony loved you!" rotfl |
re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
I loved this last episode. The Gurkel plot was OK, but the black democrat thing was hilarious. I love that they really can address stuff like this so humorously.

re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
I didn't care for it, the approach was just too heavy handed for me. But it was still fairly entertaining in spots. Loved the Mondale dig.

re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
Charlie listing off the black guys that are married to white women was gold. Charlie steals every scene he's in. I'm willing to bet they'll up his role next season.

I loved the politics and the hypocrisy that they showed - even tho when I actually gave a dame about choosing a "side" I leaned way more to the right (fiscally). Personally, as I get older the more I could give a fuck about either side - cause in the end it's all bullshit, both parties are interchangeable to the point that you can't distinguish those who are paid off (all of them) and those who aren't (absolutely none of them). The more things change the more things remain the same. The only truth for both parties is... the rich get richer the poor get poorer. |
re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
I like Charlie but I think he needs to stay in small doses. He's great with the one-liners but I wouldn't want to see too much of him.
I wish Fishburne had a larger part in the show. |
re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
Other than the Charlie part, I thought the finale was a dud. Probably my least favorite episode of the season.

Yeah, this one fell flat.

re: black-ish (ABC) - Series Thread - premiering 9/24/14
I thought it had it's moments. Not great though. I like that they took a shot and tried something interesting, but it wasn't exactly a hit.
I won't hold it against them too much though. This was a great season overall.

Season finale was complete crap. What a huge disappointment. You could tell from the previews it was going to be a bomb.

First episode I can say I didn't like at all.

1930's Black-ish was pretty good.

Really good episode to start the season.

Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
The NAACP line was awesome. Specially when they were all going "You've got a point".
|
Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
This was a great return to form and one of the best of the series (the season 1 finale stands as probably one of the worst episodes of any comedy series in the last 5 years for me) - completely hilarious and on point. Anderson and Jack singing the song in the car together was priceless. "I told him he should use the radio edit".

Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
I loved the n-word race discussion. Terror Squad, yes, Menudo, no.
|
Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
This is quickly becoming the show I most look forward to every week. Another great episode this week. Solid mix of heart and comedy and I like the alternative take they do on a lot of hot topics without being disrespectful to those topics.
I did an  when Dre was at the doctors office and jumped up on the table and there was a quick blur from under the gown. |
Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
What was that? I don't speak little bitch.

Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
Goat...I love the show, but I thought the handgun one was a major misfire (pun intended). It was not funny, and the message they were trying to throw at the audience was cliche. It just did not work for me, not to mention the timing was horrid...it aired the week of the shooting at the community college in Oregon, so I was watching it on my Tivo a day after the shooting actually took place (I almost said out loud in my apt. living room why was this ep. not pulled, but I quickly realized I was watching it after it aired).

Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
This past week was the 2nd episode that just didn't work for me. The first being the flashback old timey ep. I have been reading so many positive comments about this episode on various sites and I am not sure I watched the same episode. Too much Fishbourne and too "after school special" for me. Reminded me of the Growing Pains episode where Mrs. Chanandler Bong drove drunk and died.
I thought the N-word and gun episode were great though. |
Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
Anyone else still watching? I really like this show. This past weeks episode was pretty heavy. I can see how many would be turned off by the after-school special feel to it but I personally thought they did a good job of handling a pretty hot topic respectfully and still kept true to the show. They should submit Anthony Anderson's "Hope" monologue to the Emmy's.
Also, I thought they did a good job with Charlie this season. I was expecting them to turn him into a major character because of how popular he was among fans last season. They didn't. Alas, it's too bad that he's gone for good now. |
Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
Yeah, this is still one of our favorite shows. This week's episode was handled well. The grandparents are really starting to steal the show. I'd love a spin-off with just them trying to get along together. lol

Re: black-ish (ABC) - Season 2 Thread - premieres 9/23/15
One more thing about this episode: The flashback homaging Boyz in the Hood was fantastic.
