Re: Married With Children Spin-off in the works
I am in the same camp that this can't work. The type of humor can't carry over and I have very little confidence in Faustino.

Still, I'd be interested to see the actors' take on the characters that made them famous so long ago.

I agree in that if you grew up to it, the curiosity will be there. But like Mike86 said, it's dated humor. Would be nice even for the nostalgia.

Ok sorry, but just hit me if they can keep the Dodge in the picture.

The show holds up amazing for me. I mean, don't forget, you got Marcy who was the pre feminist in this day and age. Women would love that going up against a man like Al. I just don't know if I want to see a series about Bud (I'm not a fan of the Fuller House thing either). But he's got time as sadly, The Legend of Korra is finished, but I wouldn't say Applegate has had a home run of a career either. Katy's probably has had the best career and thanks to Modern Family, Ed saw a nice bump in his career. But eh, if they make it, I will check it out as long as Al Bundy is there.

Pfft, Fox still hasn't answered for essentially fucking the original over when it was its bread and butter back in the day and Fox wouldn't be on the map without the help of the Bundy's and Simpsons back in the hay day.

Quote: Sounds like David Faustino doesn't have much of a career so he's hoping to extend it with more Bud. Ed, Katey and Christina all have careers so they'd probably just do cameos as a favor for David. It doesn't say specifically but I'm betting it will center on Bud and his family.
I watch MWC reruns pretty regularly on TBS before the sun comes up, and the last thing I would want to see is a continuation of the series centered around David Faustino.

There's a solid reason he was the only cast member to have no post-MWC career, he sucks balls.

How'd they fuck it over? And how exactly do you expect them to "answer" for it?

Quote: I tried re-watching a few MWC episodes recently and just couldn't do it. So bad... Can't believe I used to like it during the original run.
The show had its good and bad years. Maybe you just watched a couple bad episodes.

Quote: The zany/crude humor was the only thing that set it apart from every other family sitcom.
I don't agree. At its best the writing was sharp and the cast was hilarious and played off each other well. My favorite episode is 'The Unnatural', where Al plays his final professional baseball game, and I don't recall a single crude joke in it.

Ha, I only remember the closing scene to that one. I would love to see that one again.

They cancelled the show without ceremony. No planned finale and sending the show off with fanfare.

Apparently they never told the cast the show was ending. They heard about it from friends and the media.

Yeah, the last month or so, I've been watching the TBS reruns. I can't imagine a reboot.

Yeah it was fairly shitty of Fox to just outright cancel the series. Especially given that it was one of their first original shows on the network. At the least they could have given it a finale.

Will this include a Psycho Dad reboot?

Near the tail end of July, during the red carpet premiere of Christina Applegate's Vacation, her and former Married with Children co-star David Faustino both made it clear that every Bundy is coming back for the Married...With Children Spinoff. Now, Katey Sagal, who played mom Peggy Bundy, has chimed in, and confirms that he's ready to put the wig back on, and Ed O'Neill is game to put his hand back down his pants as Al Bundy for this new TV series.

Katey Sagal has had a pretty strong career following her 11 years on the air as Peg Bundy in what is known as Fox's first sitcom. She just finished playing her iconic role of Gemma in Sons of Anarchy, which came to a close last year. She is now rejoining her husband Kurt Sutter, who created that show, for his new series The Bastard Executioner. She spoke with /Film about the potential for a Married...With Children Spinoff. While she doesn't generally like reboots, she sees this as more of a continuation. Especially since Married with Children Season 11 didn't end with a proper finale, leaving everything open-ended.

"David approached me about and I said, 'Anything, absolutely'. I think all three of us, Ed, Christina and myself all told David yes. It's not really a reboot. It's a continuation I think of Bud Bundy's story."

Married With Children debuted in 1987 and didn't exactly become an instant hit. It was Fox's first big sitcom, and as it started to hum along, the politically incorrect comedy about a father who hated his wife and kids started to generate a lot of controversy and boycotts. This only drew more people to it who quickly became addicted to this type of ant-social humor, which was rare at the time. Some called it the Anti-Cosby Show. Because the series ended so abruptly, with none of the cast realizing it had been canceled until they heard it either from friends or on TV, Katey Sagal feels there is still so much more story to tell. She explains.

"I'm always for an original idea. I suppose there's a certain value in rebooting some of that but I'm not quite sure what it is. If you actually have a story to tell about those people...The only reason a Married with Children reboot might make sense to me is it never really ended. So it might be nice to see it end. So I don't know. I'm not sure how I feel about that. There's so many original ideas."

The new show will revolve around David Faustino's Bud Bundy. Though, no further details have been revealed. Will he also be Married with Children? That's the thought, though Bud always had problems with the ladies. With Katey Sagal holding down a full time job on The Bastard Executioner, Ed O'Neill enjoying success with the long running ABC sitcom Modern Family, and Christina Applegate's non-stop movie career, its hard to judge just how much of the Bundy clan we'll get to see on a weekly basis. But it should be more than enough to satisfy fans. When asked where they are now, Katey Sagal replied with this.

"Where do I see them? Oh, I don't know. They're in a trailer somewhere."

Katey Sagal's Peggy Bundy is known for her wild outfits. More than that, she is also known for her magnificent beehive of red hair. Will Peggy have updated her look in the past 18 years since we last saw her? Katey Sagal leaves us with this.

"Absolutely not. She would probably have to wear that hair."

You can see Katey Sagal in The Bastard Executioner when it premieres Tuesday, September 10 at 10PM on FX. The Married...With Children Spinoff doesn't have a start date, as rights and clearance issues still need to be worked out between Fox and Sony. It's unclear how soon it will even be on the air. But t sounds like the entire Bundy clan is clearly ready to return!

if so, you can expect a musical montage (sung by katey, of course) to open and /or close the special 110 minute ep.
