Absolutely. What is the great risk? If it is horrible no one will be required to watch.

I tried re-watching a few MWC episodes recently and just couldn't do it. So bad... Can't believe I used to like it during the original run. But I was young and liked looking at the occasional hottie they put on screen.

Re: Married with Children, Bud Bundy spin-off/reboot coming

Jory, I am also going quickly through all 11 seasons (almost at S9), and we share some of the same thoughts...still one of the greatest tv series of all time, but holy moley, yes, the eps that are back door pilots / attempted spin-offs are some of the worst examples of TV that I have ever seen (so not just crappy MWC episodes, but just examples of bad TV).

Also, some of the adult humor just flew right over my head when I originally watched the show, such as when Peg Bundy says things like Al never let's me know when he is coming in response to something Marcy said...hoo boy(!), I suspect that even the shows that try to push the envelope on network tv could not get away with that line today.

Which ones were backdoor pilots? I remember the Top of the Heap one, but someone said that there were 4 of them. I don't remember what they were.

Yes it featured the return of Steve. It also had Kerri Russell in it.

Hey, just cause he's 5 feet tall doesn't mean he can't be an excellent voice over actor for a cartoon series that is pretty cool.

Wow. Thanks for the info on the backdoor series attempts. I was (an am) a huge MWC fan and had no idea about the return of Steve or the radio one. I'm thankful a No Maam series didn't take off. Thats when the series really started taking a downhill turn for me.

Re: Married with Children, Bud Bundy spin-off/reboot coming

Jory, if those sales above $60 - 100 for used sets in like new condition are legit, than wow...that is nuts. I did notice that there were a handful of sales in the 60-80 range, which is more in-line with what I will probably get for my set (no way I am keeping it...I doubt I will have an opportunity to plow through all 230+ eps again anytime in the near future, as it is...it is only because I am between jobs that I decided to jump in and get through all 11 seasons in a fairly short period of time). 7 discs to go before I finish the series.

Wow! That's mental.

I remember when this was being blown out. I thought about buying it, but realized I already had enough unwatched stuff, and that this would be very low priority.

Damn! I bought this on sale for $25. I almost wish I bought two now. I wonder why it went out of print so fast?

Re: Married with Children, Bud Bundy spin-off/reboot coming

My guess would be because of the Mill Creek deal (the complete series was released by Sony)

Married With Children Spin-off in the works

A Married With Children Spin-off Is in the Works

Married With Children's Bundy family may be following in the way of Full House's Tanner gang.

David Faustino, who played Bud on the sitcom, told E! that he's developing a "spin-off" of the series. "Sony has it. They're excited about it," he said at the premiere of his TV co-star Christina Applegate's movie Vacation. "They're working on some legal issues that we hope they work out.

"The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it," Faustino continued. The idea would be a pilot for a spin-off series, he says, which would require some interesting scheduling with his former co-stars. His TV parents Ed O'Neill and Katey Sagal are both a bit busy with their own current series, Modern Family and The Bastard Executioner, respectively.

"All of us have said we would all be there for [Faustino]," said Applegate, who played his older sister Kelly on the show.

Married With Children originally ran for 11 seasons on Fox, following the Bundy family's dysfunctional goings-on.

Personally to me Married With Children hasn't really held up the greatest so I'm not totally interested but still might see what its like. I have to think it'll be different in tone and not have the same zany/crude humor that the original did

The zany/crude humor was the only thing that set it apart from every other family sitcom.

Re: Married With Children Spin-off in the works

Sounds like David Faustino doesn't have much of a career so he's hoping to extend it with more Bud. Ed, Katey and Christina all have careers so they'd probably just do cameos as a favor for David. It doesn't say specifically but I'm betting it will center on Bud and his family.

I know it was but I'm not sure how well that type of humor will go over with modern audiences. I sort of see this failing if they go the route of the original to be honest.

There is no way they can make the same show because it wont be PC for everyone. I hope they do though, I always loved MwC.

Not PC enough? Network shows are getting away with anal sex jokes these days. MWC seems almost quaint by comparison.

I'd be shocked if they could actually shock someone with a network show anymore.

Re: Married With Children Spin-off in the works

I think its more of a matter of the over the topness the original show had that won't work as well now. I mean in some of the episodes the Bundy's were pretty close to bordering on being live action cartoon characters (especially in the later seasons). I think the way most comedies are written now days that type of approach won't really work because I'm not really sure that's what modern audiences are into. As far as political correctness goes shows get away with more in some respects but also have to tune down some stuff.

Re: Married With Children Spin-off in the works

I've never watched an entire episode of Two and Half Men or 2 Broke Girls but, both of those shows are just as raunchy and over the top as Married with Children ever was.
