Do you ever Rewatch Serial Shows Cancelled Prematurely ?
I don't mean shows which had a few seasons and then got cancelled
I mean serial shows that got cancelled well prematurely leaving things up in limbo
E.g. Threshold, Surface, Invasion, almost human etc
I was thinking of rewatching Threshold, but i think i will get too annoyed at the end.

I thought Threshold got an ending tacked in there last minute. Certainly not what it would have received should it had a planned ending. But many shows don't even get that tacked on end. ETA - The last few episodes, including the one with the tacked ending were not on CBS. But they are on the DVD set.
I seem to remember Harsh Realm getting no ending what so ever. Bought it anyway because I liked what we did see so much.

Almost Human was mostly a procedural. It's series finale was a self contained episode with nothing lingering. I wouldn't say that was left in limbo. Sure, it could have come back for another season, but unfortunately it didn't.

(Not a cancelled show per se).
Would watching a single season (that is not the first season) of a show like Lost without watching any of the other seasons, be similar?
I've only watched season 4 of Lost, without watching any of the other seasons. It seemed sorta odd, but was semi-watchable.
I also only watched season 5/5.5 of Breaking Bad, without watching any of the other seasons previously. It kept my attention, albeit with a lot of context that seemed to be missing.

That seems kind of crazy to only watch one season of Lost in the very middle, though season 4 is one of its better seasons.
Abrupt endings to canceled series have never bothered me, it's a reality of the business.

Watched every episode and would have loved to see what would have happened with the few storylines they did have going.

Yeah the girlfriend and the Wall were the only 2 lingering storylines that they never fully developed. If they got a 2nd season, they could have gotten into those stories more, but nothing about them had any cliffhanger elements from the 1st and only season.

Firefly should be an obvious choice. As should Jericho.

I enjoyed Invasion on DVD but can't really envision watching it again when there's so much else to watch. Surface has been lingering on the edges of my awareness, but I'll probably never get to it.
I heard enough good things about Almost Human that I'll probably watch it someday.

Twin Peaks, Firefly, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles...and Freaks and Geeks if that counts as a serial show.

Surface was an interesting concept but it went into too many directions and it suffered from an extensive reliance of "how far down does the rabbit hole go" storytelling.
I will rematch comedy shows that didn't make it like Dilbert or Gary and Mike.

Yeah I watch Firefly, Space:Above and Beyond, Human Target (I don't acknowledge that the second season exists), and Crusade. I'm debating buying Almost Human because it was fun but VOD, really? I actually tried to watch Jericho a few month ago but since I know it doesn't really go anywhere, I dropped it.

I watched VR.5 not that long ago
I can't believe that show is 20 years old now.

I had totally forgotten about Surface. I enjoyed that show while it was on. The one I think a lot here will mention is Firefly. I've watched the "series" 2-3 times at least.

I really do need to finish Firefly one day to just say I finished it.

One serial show that fits this category is Point Pleasant which was on FOX back in 2005. It was a supernatural/horror serial show that got canned after nine episodes, but 13 episodes were filmed. The unaired episodes were put on the DVD release. I rewatched the show including the unaired episodes on DVD. The last episode left several things up in the air. I've also rewatched Firefly, Jericho, and Surface.

Jericho might have made my list if the second season never eixsted. But first season is definately something I wouldn't mind re-watchign someday. I feel the same way about ost of Revolution's first season. If that never got a second season I probably would put that on my list as well.

To be fair, Twin Peaks solved the big mystery and just was grinding after that.
Deadwood is my example. Very enjoyable show, even though it ends on a cliffhanger.

I rarely even finish a serial show that is left lingering, let alone watch it a second time. I find season-ending cliffhangers to be frustrating enough.

Agree about Human Target and Firefly. I rewatch those every so often. Others I like include Moonlight, Miracles (Skeet Ulrich can't get a break) and even tho it had a resolution, Kidnapped. And in the pretend the 2nd season never happened category, I would add Dark Blue.
