Taking a cue in how The Walking Dead never references zombies, I've noticed they have yet to mention vampire on The Strain. It's the dumbest concept to come out of these post-modern horror tales. At least on The Strain everyone seems to be previously aware of the general concept, even if they don't call them vampires.

Setrakian said "Think of a man with fangs, a cape, and a funny accent. Now take away the cape, the accent, and anything remotely funny about it." I think that the point is that these are pretty much a world of difference from any other fictional conception of the vampires, especially since they're being examined in a biological context. Either way, let's be honest: if someone told you "There are vampires outside!" You would probably react by saying "Um, yeah."
That being said, if someone told me that and I saw a pale-white creature with blood on its mouth outside, their argument might start sounding more compelling. Evidently not to these characters, however.

You'll believe in vampires then.

Rat guy is one of my favorite as well. I think it's partially because I liked the actor in so many other roles, including Lost.
I have no idea what his likely connection to the other characters based on the books, but I have a strong feeling he becomes one of the major heroes in Season 2.

Why not post the video on Youtube and get the word out if he so concerned? I am losing interest in this show pretty quickly. All of the characters are incredibly stupid.

When he took out the SIM card he probably severed his ability to connect to the Internet. Now, as to why the hell he couldn't do it at the Ansel household is one of the great mysteries of the universe. Though with the Internet down thanks the the evil 4chan woman, maybe he can't get online.

But then, it's not like this show makes much sense...

I just saw this last night. I really enjoyed seeing those dumbass FBI agents get the blood sucked out of them. Hopefully Eph's ex-wife's boyfriend will meet the same fate by the next episode.
I'm really enjoying David Bradley's Setrakian. Definitely the most interesting character with an interesting back story.

Which gets me to thinking, why the fuck would she agree to do something like that? Even if they paid her a lot of money, the internet is not just her livelihood, but what she does, along with everyone she would know. It would be like asking a farmer to salt the Earth of not just his farm, but all his neighboring farms - why in the fuck would he do that. Making money once when it involved destroying the thing that keeps making you money over time makes no sense. But then, it's not like this show makes much sense...

I didn't mind the timing there. But I was thinking that things would get really apocalyptic during the eclipse. Other than the coroner guy on the street, we didn't see anything happen. I thought shit was going to go down really fast.

I took that to simply be them showing us ONE attack. Easy to believe there was other attacks on every other square mile of the island.

Overall this show feels like the Following to me in terms of being a pretty fun ride with tons of plot holes and stupid character actions but with such a far our premise that it has to be like that.
As long as things start speeding up , i'm cool with that

This show has exactly two things going for it: David Bradley and Kevin Durand. The rest varies from downright bad to "meh". I'm struggling to stay interested.

I think it may actually get better now that they are no longer trying to tell a "CDC agent" story, or any other kind of seriously realistic portrayal of - well, anything. Now that they are pretty much full-on into the vampire/vampire hunter part of the tale there should be far fewer chances to be taken out of the story by "there is no way a vampire/vampire hunter would do that" moments. Better yet maybe the guys wife/kid will heed his advice and leave town never to be seen again.
