Can we give Jeselnik his own show? Again?

I thought the show was decent and I'll stick with it. I am specifically looking forward to the episode where Garfunkel & Oates compete against their porn equivalents.

It worked for those Kiwi boys, it should work for us! I mean, yeah, it's more entertaining than Married, but that's just a depressing on the nose show.

Before I get anyone's hopes up, the aforementioned scene is not one of the screenshots.

It's one of the most extended, clear nude scenes ever included in a film intended for mainstream distribution. I was actually stunned by its inclusion and I am not stunned easily.

Blu-ray currently available at Barnes and Noble for $4.99.

I liked it... but I've had a thing for Kate Micucci since Scrubs. Plus Anthony Jeselnik always cracks me up. Curious how Chris Hardwick will fit in the next episode.

He'll probably hand out a lot of points, or talk about what will be coming up on Talking Oates.

I just watched the second episode where they face off with the porn versions of them. It seems that Kate is being set up a be the ditz of the show.

I loved Garfinger's hatred of silent letters.

That joke pays off as the punch line in next week's episode.
Spoiler:
"You think I'm retarded!?! [...] Oh yeah, I can see that."
"And you just dress like that?"
"Oh, these are my clothes."

I think I enjoyed Married tonight more than I did this episode.

And that's saying something. eeek. One more week and I'll just drop this one and wait for Flight of the Conchords to return eventually.

The porn store owner was John Oates. Totally didn't realize until the credits ran.

Another decent episode, but not great.

Did not notice that. I was trying to place where I'd seen the alcoholic (functioning) worker at the company roast. Finally hit me at the end. She was one of the "lookie-loos" (along with Kathy Griffin) who helped up Marcellus Wallace after Butch Coolidge crashed the Honda into him. And I probably only made that connection since I just saw Pulp Fiction theatrically (35mm, by the way) two weeks ago.

As for the G&O episode, I think it tried too much with three concurrent plots. They're not Seinfeld, who could deftly juggle four different plots with each of the main characters that somehow ended up seamlessly intertwining, and all in a 30-minute episode. Here we had G&O dealing with the porn versions of themselves having greater success, the company roast, and the childrens' show. But the three stories never really gelled, and it probably would have just been better had it been three episodes instead of one.

It was decent.

I also didn't realize that was John Oates. Knowing it and looking at the scene again made me wonder how I didn't realize it. I assumed he was just a regular actor - which means he did a good job... it felt natural.

Not something I would have ever noticed. I can't even name a Hall and Oates song.

The problem here is that G&O can come up with great songs, but once they put down the guitar and ukele they're just not interesting.

And, in fact, they're kind of annoying.

You're either under 20 years old, not originally from North America or were living in a cave (or any combination of the three).

Opposite for me. Hate the songs.

I was 6(1987) the last time one of their songs cracked the top 10 and they weren't a big deal in the 90's from what I remember. I doubt they have many fans under the age of 35.

But looking that up I did see that they sing Private Eyes which I know from that Psych commercial. I'm sure heard many of their songs. I just don't know the names and I'd never know either one of them from sight.

I didn't know it was Oates, but I thought I recognized him, just couldn't place it.

Other Hall & Oates Songs:

She's Gone
Rich Girl
Out Of Touch
Kiss On My List
Method Of Modern Love
You Make My Dreams Come True
Maneater

On the other side, I can only think of 3 Simon & Garfunkel songs:

Mrs. Robinson
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Scarborough Fair

I'm liking this show so far although I can see why it is divisive. I like these types of songs even though they're so fast, you can barely understand the lyrics some times. I can't see it lasting more than one season.

BTW, Simon & Garfunkel has about a dozen recognizable hits while Hall & Oats has about 15.

The Essential Collection Series is the best for each artist.

Also, I recognized John Oats immediately.

oh, and I sat through about 5 minutes of the crap that is Hell Baby before my I hit the FFW button to go straight to Riki's nude scene. And even then, I had to mute it.

Re: Garfunkel & Oates (IFC) - Series Thread

Other than the way they shoehorned in a new "Sports Go Sports" music video, this was the strongest episode yet. Good callbacks to previous events in the episode, like Riki's constant need to correct someone, and Kate appearing to be mentally challenged. The writing was much more focused than in the previous episode, and it worked really well.

Didn't care for the "Sports Go Sports" song but did laugh at how they duplicated the "Saved by the Bell" music video for it.

They need to drop the music.... Weakest part of the episodes so far.
