Garfunkel & Oates (IFC) - Series Thread

IFC today announced it hasgreenlit the original series Garfunkel & Oates, featuring the female comedy-folk duo Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci, to join the network's 2014 line-up. IFC also ordered a pilot presentation of American Storage, which follows the unlikely friendship between a storage facility employee and a man who takes up residence in one of the empty units. Additionally, IFC has entered into a first-look deal with the new television division of the popular podcast network Earwolf and is currently developing a comedy project with writer/producer Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights, Weeds, Boardwalk Empire). Garfunkel & Oates(10x30) centers on the aspirations and misadventures of the female comedy-folk duo Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Kate Micucci (Oates), and will spotlight the personal and professional lives of the duo whose career choices - singing satirical and sometimes dirty songs - leaves them with little in common with their peers, and no one but each other to turn to for support and understanding. The series is produced by Abominable Pictures and executive produced by Lindhome, Micucci and Jonathan Stern (Childrens Hospital, NTSF:SD:SUV: ).

PRINCIPAL CAST INFORMATION:
· Kate Micucci as Oates
· Riki Lindhome as Garfunkel

CREW INFORMATION:
· Dennis McNicholas as EP
· Fred Savage as EP/DIR (Pilot)
· Jonathan Stern as EP
· Kate Micucci as CRTR/EP
· Riki Lindhome as CRTR/EP

I used to bang Kate "The Gooch" Micucci's cousin... so I guess I'm in.

If you have not seen the movie Helly Baby Riki Lindhome shows everything.

I did not really care for her until that scene and then I changed my mind.

Same as in the remake of Last house on the Left.

I'll check this out, I like some of their songs and Kate had some funny moments and songs when she was on Raising Hope.

Hell Baby Blu-ray review with full 1080P screenshots:

Before I get anyone's hopes up, the aforementioned scene is not one of the screenshots.

It's one of the most extended, clear nude scenes ever included in a film intended for mainstream distribution. I was actually stunned by its inclusion and I am not stunned easily.

...proving once again that Netflix will never stream the movie you want to see.

Wow, it surprises YOU, I'm kind of curious ....

Like G&O, but they're something of a fun novelty, not sure how I'd handle them for a block of time. Only know who they are because of Kate's guest turn in TBBT, I'm ashamed to say.

Riki was on TBBT, too, btw.

I thought last night's show was ok. I knew the comedian was going to tell the story about Riki puking, though. That's usually how these stories play out.

Re: Garfunkel & Oates (IFC) - Series Thread

I dug it. I just saw them live two weeks ago (and the toy store clerk was the opening act), and they remarked how they had to change some lyrics for IFC. In particular, the line "We are what we have.....huge pussies". They had to change it to "WE'RE huge pussies".

I liked it, but at the same time felt they were trying too hard. They're cute though, and the songs are funny, so I'll keep watching.

Yeah I bought it last summer after hearing about it on Comedy Bang Bang and was a bit surprised by that scene as well.

Watched the first episode earlier. I thought it was ok. I cracked up at the acting reel parts.

Hmmm, thought it was a show with Art Garfunkel and John Oates. Now I'm not interested.

Loved pretty much all the scenes with Oates. Garfunkel's hookup was kind of hit and miss. The songs were entertaining enough, but they sang so fast in one I missed a lot of the jokes. I'm in for the season.

It's kinda like a less funny "Broad City" with some annoying songs thrown in.

Yeah that last song went a bit fast and I had to rewatch it.

Re: Garfunkel & Oates (IFC) - Series Thread

I'm a fan, but their problem is that they sound too much alike, so when they harmonize, they sound like either one alone. Also, as clever as their songs are, they all sound kind of alike, as well. The same tinka tinka cadence. Flight of the Conchords had a lot more variety in their song styles and voices. But I've had a crush on Riki since her McGriddles commercial, so I'm in.

The pilot was decent, Jeselnik kind of stole the show. The puppet for the agent is an inspired idea.

I don't like the "girl plays a ukulele" thing.

Too corny.

When they don't sing on the show It was funny.

Jeselnik....... "Almost there"

Re: Garfunkel & Oates (IFC) - Series Thread

I thought it was decent. Some funny comments and situations. Definitely better than "Married".

The only thing I don't really like is that they break into song - which I don't find particularly very good, even if some of the lyrics are funny. They should at least try to make shorter songs - they run too long.
