Agents of SHIELD Season 2: New Casting and Villains
News Mike Cecchini 7/25/2014 at 3:54PM Agents of Shield
At Marvel TV's Comic-Con panel, we learned who will be in season two of Agents of the SHIELD...
Marvel Comics fans should be happy with the way Agents of SHIELD season two is shaping up. At the Marvel Television Presents panel in Ballroom 20 at the San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that four (and that’s just for now) new characters familiar to fans of the comics are on the way.
We’ll work our way backwards, here. During a brief video tease in which we saw the return of Patton Oswalt as Agent Koenig (well, one of ‘em), it was revealed that Bobbi Morse, codename: Mockingbird, is coming to the show. Comic book fans may recognize Mockingbird as a character who has some history with Hawkeye. No word on casting just yet.
I asked executive producers Jeph Loeb and Jeffrey Bell how long we would have to wait before Mockingbird would show up and was told "not long."
Daniel Whitehall, “The Kraken,” who is a serious business HYDRA operative will be the big, season-long bad guy. Here’s hoping he’s better than most of the villainous offerings from season one. Things improved tremendously once Grant Ward turned heel and had Bill Paxton to play off of. Reed Diamond will play the role.
Lance Hunter, director of STRIKE (no word yet on whether that organization exists in the Agents of SHIELD TV universe) is one of the characters on the way. This was the character described as a “mercenary” in some earlier leaked casting descriptions. I was hoping this would turn out to be Marc “Moon Knight” Spector, but alas…Anyway, he will be played by newcomer Nick Blood.
Lucy Lawless’ SHIELD character has been revealed as Isabel Hartly, a “long time SHIELD veteran” who is apparently good with knives. More on this as we get it…and we'll have interviews with the writers and producers behind Agents of SHIELD coming in the near future!

Interview with Brett Dalton who plays Ward and J. August Richards who plays Deathlok. The relevant info we all wanted to know:
He killed a bunch of people. He killed Patton Oswalt. Sure, there was another Patton Oswalt, but he killed a Patton Oswalt.
Yes. Look, has he killed people? Yes. But he has also not killed his dog, and witnessed his brother drown in a well, and there's a million other things that have happened. So I think his lawyer was more to Agent [John Garrett] — to Bill Paxton — than it was to Hydra. So I think that we have another opportunity to figure out who this guy is.
So he didn't kill his dog? A lot of us thought he did.
I know. It was supposed to be ambiguous. According to me, he did not. It's open to interpretation, but I'll answer that. No. Because it's irredeemable. You can't kill a dog! If you do that, you're just done. So, redemption arc? It's just going to be dead in the water. You can't kill a dog.

"Twin Peaks" star Kyle MacLachlan has scored a key recurring role in the upcoming second season of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on ABC. MacLachlan will guest star in the second episode of the new season in a role known as 'The Doctor' at least initially.
Another actor joining the ranks is "NYPD Blue" star Henry Simmons who has signed on to appear as agent Alphonso 'Mac' Mackenzie, who is described as a mechanic in his early 30s.

Also wouldn't be completely off the wall to have her appear on the big screen, since she has name/face recognition.

Marvel has revealed the identity of that actor spotted on the set of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." the other week with the blue arm, and it turns out he's not playing a member of the Kree race.
Instead, he's actor Brian Patrick Wade ("Generation Kill," "Teen Wolf") and he'll be playing a different Marvel entity - Crusher Creel aka. The Absorbing Man. Creel has the ability to absorb the properties of anything he touches and will appear very early into the new season.

I'm getting really psyched for season 2.
I wonder how many returnees (those who bailed early, but changed their minds) we will have now that most have learned the show got better in the 2nd half of season 1?

Really excited to see what they can do with a whole season to engineer in advance, as opposed to last year when they were sort of scrambling to find their way for the first half of the season.
I believe the term is "losers".

I saw this ad on Facebook. I really really hope they don't try and redeem him the way this is phrased.

I did come back for a few episodes after my covert mission with Captain 'Merica (he's spent some time in the South, just go with the new pronunciation). Even with those episodes, I still wasn't overly impressed. Yes, it was "better" but I still didn't feel it was good. Perhaps it could be that I missed too much in the middle.
That said, Director Coulson has suggested that it may be in my best interest to give Season 2 a shot. So, we'll see. It is likely I will record the episodes (using the latest in SHIELD technology) and binge watch multiple episodes during my long flyng car commute to Tahiti.

The network announced Monday that Hayley Atwell — aka Agent Peggy Carter — and George Stephanopoulos will guest star in the season premiere of Agents of SHIELD.
The episode, titled "Shadows" will see Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team now serving as fugitives with limited resources but still doing their part to keep the world safe. Stephanopoulos will play himself.
Season two will see the SHIELD team introduce new members they don't know. Guest stars set for Agents of SHIELD duty include B.J. Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett, Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter, Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot, Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie, Patton Oswalt as Agent Billy Koenig, Lucy Lawless as Isabelle "Izzy" Hartley, Wilmer Calderon as Idaho, Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall, Matthew Glave as Roger Browning, Simon Kassianides as Sunil Bakshi and Raquel Gardner as Carla Talbot.
Season two will also welcome Adrianne Palicki as comics favorite Mockingbird; Kyle MacLachlan as Skye’s (Chloe Bennet) father and Brian Patrick Wade as Carl "Crusher" Creel, aka the Absorbing Man.
Atwell stars in ABC's Captain America TV spinoff Agent Carter, which will debut as a bridge show and fill Agents of SHIELD's time slot when the series takes its holiday break. An exact premiere date has not yet been determined.
Agents of SHIELD returns in its new time slot on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m.

The BD for season 1 comes out tomorrow. Anyone here who bailed, did not finish season 1 for whatever reason snagging it to get caught up?
